I'll forever hold out that Tiger Woods' record of consecutive cuts made will hold that title for this generation.

Since the NFL is now Glorified Arena Football, Favre/Manning/Brady/Brees are shattering all the records and a new one gets set every other year. It's very watered down.

Sorry to say it because I love Manning, but this.

Dude is still one of the greatest sportsmen of all time (and arguably the greatest QB).

Remember those Manning vs. Brady debates? lols.

Why are you criticizing me? OP said HR record was more prestigious because more people knew who held it; I simply stated that wasn't the case.

no and it isn't even the greatest QB record

Brees 54 game TD streak >>> lifetime compilation stats

Although PM may also hold that one at the end of this season

The past 2 seasons man in has pulled away from Brees who had really been gaining on him and challenging his previously unquestioned spot as the greatest. 509 is a big deal. Bigger than 54

Last night they were talking about Sammy Baugh leading the league in TD passes, punting average, and interceptions
and IIRC he did not win the MVP award

It was given out after the championship game which the Redskins lost

no, streaks are more impressive then compilations. The pressure never lets up. After Joe D went hitless in game 57 he went on another 17 game hit streak -- but he himself admitted it wasn't a big deal b/c "the pressure was off".

Although b/c of rules changes Unitas' 47 was more impressive than Drew's 54

I'm sorry, it just is not. 509 represents an entire career playing at an exceptionally high level while 54 represents playing 3 1/2 seasons at a consistent level.

Manning has thrown 90 more Tds than Dan Marino. Favre breaking it wasn't as big of a deal to me, because favre had stopped playing at a high level for so long and his record is more a byproduct of time. Manning has still played for 17 seasons, but he has done so at the highest level.

I said it wasn't AS big of a deal...[as peyton manning]

favre had a series of shite seasons with two gems sprinkled in between. I would suspect there is a considerable difference in the number of games played

Brett Favre has played 52 more games than Peyton Manning to this point.

Williams himself said the streak > .400, and that if he had a vote he would have voted Joe D MVP

Home runs because every player in a pool of tens of thousands has a chance to compete for it.

TD passes only a couple hundred have/will have a chance to go for it, because QB is such a lucrative position.

Think this gets the nod.

It has crossed eras "juiced ball" and steroids etc. and still stands.

TD record is huge but the game changed. Everybody is chucking the ball.

Meh. I agree that home runs is bigger, but I don't agree with this reasoning. Baseball only has a few guys who try for home runs. Everyone bats, yes. But they have different roles/ goals.

NBA points record is a bigger deal. The Godbe is going to break it this season.

Rank Player PTS
1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar* 38387
2. Karl Malone* 36928
3. Michael Jordan* 32292
4. Kobe Bryant 31700
