I love Les' response, but all the people ragging the reporter's question need to take a step back.
When reporters interview people (especially coaches who are experts in the art of sanitized bullshite answers) a lot of times they have to reword a question that they know a coach won't answer to get the information they need.
In this example, the reporter wants to know "who are you grooming to be the QB of the future," but he asks a more general question in hopes that Les gives him something to work with. Thus, the question isn't as dumb as you people are trying to make it out to be.
It's interesting that as a society we crave information, yet we so disrespect the facilitators of that information.

Which is a dumb question to ask in an interview after a game that has just been completed.
Even if Miles knows the answer to this question, he isn't going to just come out and answer it.

What a dumb question by that "reporter". Appropriate response by Miles.

What I'm saying is that it's easy for us who have no real stake in it--as emotionally invested as we may be--to say that we should maybe start this guy (Harris)instead if that guy(Jennings) because we may be better off for it in the long wrong. You or I may be willing to take our chances with Florida and Kentucky to be in a better position(we think) to beat Ole Miss or Bama. We'll take Harris and 7-5 if it puts us in better position to compete for championships next year.
But tell that to La'el who came back for his senior year. Tell that to Rasco who rehabbed 2 shoulder surgeries in the last year to be ready to compete in his senior year. Tell that to Ronald Martin who worked his butt off to overcome some serious personal and physical setbacks to be ready for this season. Tell Kwon Alexander who is busting his arse all over the place that none of that effort for this year matters. Tell them we're already throwing in the towel to get Harris ready for next year. Tell them this year doesn't matter.
Les is stubborn as frick--sometimes to a fault--is somewhat antiquated and far from perfect, but he gets one thing that so many of our fans seems to forget. You PLAY..TO WIN..THE GAME. He's not going to forfeit his best chance this week to maybe have a better chance next week. While that can be frustrating to us, no doubt, that is absolutely the right thing to do for his players--the ones on this year's team. His allegiance is to them, not us. And that's where it should be. And I love him for not succumbing to the outside pressure and always doing what he thinks is right. Even if we don't agree.

Way to say absolutely nothing with a lot of words. Nothing but generalities and platitudes.
The statement was sensible and clear. Way to be too stupid to understand a simple concept

What a terrible question

I wonder if that was premeditated, because that was pure gold..

I'm not going to quote the entire thing, but THIS x29302930929489328508237582735
That was absolutely perfect and beautiful.. I literally nodded my head yes the entire time.
I wish I could spam the up vote button.

how do you feel its clear that Les wants Harris to take over and be the starter?

Herm Edwards…is that you?
Kidding aside, Hot Carl's post is one of the more thoughtful and logical ones that I have seen on here in a long time.
Coaches simply are not wired to think beyond the next game when they are in the middle of a season. They have all spring and all of next fall to figure out who the 2015 QB is going to be.

A better question would've been about the development of QBs over a 10 year span with only 1-2 being drafted.

as opposed to all those schools who've had 5-6 drafted over the last 10 years?

quote:Bingo...he owe it to the team, especially the seniors to operate in this manner.
Les wants to play for victory every game and he is going to do whatever it takes (in his opinion) to put his team in position to that every week.
