Does it make a difference to you if a company pays a monthly or quarterly dividend? An advantage of monthly dividends (esp. aristocrat companies) is people can rely on these more to pay their bills instead of waiting for a "lump sum" payment every three months.

I currently have a slew of blue chips, and one monthly which consistently raises their dividend and offers a June and December special dividend for 14 annual payouts. NASDAQ: MAIN. I'm also interested in getting into a REIT with AGNC which has an 11.8% dividend and just announced its intention to convert to monthly dividends.

Don't see why it should matter.

Sweep to your brokerage fund, and set it up to send a third of it to your bank account monthly. Then it all balances out and you spread out the "lump sum payment"

there's the whole making interest or reinvestment on it. that may be pretty marginal though depending on amount holding and not matter much if you're spending it.

Budget better, then. It shouldn't be that hard.

At any rate, you can't rely on the dividend always being there, the company can change the dividend at any time.
