Some people have trouble keeping muscle just as much as bigger people have losing fat. I've seen videos of DrTyger and he's not a big guy so it's not all that unrealistic

Other than the DVDs, what does one need to do this? What kind of space, other equipment, etc.?

It must be nice to be able to do it. I pass out after a couple of days, it sucks missing half a lung.

first 2 weeks are rough, but you will wake up every morning feeling much better than the day before. I know that sounds simple and rhetorical, but it's a lifestyle change. At that point, you will be looking forward to Insanity rather than dreading it.

Couldn't agree more.

I'm thinking of starting it back up myself.

Insanity requires no equipment. Just good athletic shoes and probably a mat if you don't want to ruin your floor with sweat.

Very little space. No other equipment. That's the beauty.

A friend of mine and I did the whole 60 days in an 8x8 room that had a couch in it- it was a little crowded but not too bad. I want to do it again, but I don't want to do it in my house- we'd probably wake the kids up. It definitely worked- I only lost about 10 lbs, but I lost 3-4 inches around my mid section

Yes. Cross trainers, specifically. Do not try to use running shoes. Insanity is very high impact, and the bones in your feet will get sore if you do not use the right shoes, or shoes that are worn.

If you're on a hard surface, a mat is a must. Your sweat will cover the floor during the warm-up and you won't be able to do the rest of the workout. I use a rug mat from Rooms To Go. It's made for carpet or hard surfaces, depending on the side that you put down. It's 5x7, so it's large enough that I never have to step off of it.

Yeah, that was my biggest problem with it was not trying to lose the muscle I had.

And I'm not big. I'm only about 175 lbs. When I finished Insanity I think I was down to about 162. Was just eating a ton of carbs and protein shakes to try to maintain the weight I already had, still couldn't keep up with all the madness. It just kicked my metabolism into overdrive.

I've done it before but never all the way through. I like the workout though. I might try it again soon. I need to get back into shape and I actually like some of the workouts

^ this for me too. I made it 6 weeks and got the flu right when everyone says the best results come in weeks 6-8. Never got back into it after getting sick.

I have a crazy metabolism, so I didn't really have any weight to lose. I think all of the fat in my legs is turning into muscle and I'm holding a lot of water. I seriously have never weighed more in my life, but I don't look fat. I think I look damn good.

I regret not doing so. I just thought it was gay to do that when I started.

Its all muscle mass. Insanity is good for shedding inches rather than pounds.

Which is exactly what I need. I couldn't recommend it more. I love being in slight pain going down the stairs every day. Makes me feel good.
