You are an NFL GM in need of a quarterback. Do you draft Winston?

After watching some of the horrible QB play today from the starting qbS in this league, I'm going to be surprised if all teams pass on Winston. The potential talent is just too great and the downside is actually relatively limited. Is he going to be worse than Kirk cousins or Charlie Whitehurst? And if you are a team with an aging QB that will be phased out in the next couple of years (i'm looking at you San Diego) then you stash him on the bench and let him mature for a year or 2.

I'd rather have Todd Marinovich running my team

No. I'm not saying you have to be a braniac to play the NFL position, but nothing in his career has shown me he has the ability to be given the keys to a billion dollar company.

everyone is posturing but this is not a strong draftr. i don't see how he makes it out of the top 3 unless he just rapes someone

lol i didn't even mean that joke lol.

if i were the jets, the bucs or the raiders i cannot pass on this kid.

I disagree. Aside from completely wasting an early round pick if he busts, he could easily do some stupid off the field shite that would tear a team apart.

And no I would not take him

I'd rather take a flyer on a Christian Ponder or Jake Locker or something for free and spend the high 1st round pick on a tackle or DT. Then if you suck again you'd have another high pick the next year to find a safer QB prospect.

Winston isn't worth the risk to me unless you get him in the 2nd round or unless you're already a good team and get him late in the 1st round and try to groom him.

I posit that we just live in a hyper aware media age and everything that is done is under intense scrutiny. When I was in college I saw players do thingsway worse than Winston and made it to the league and no one cared because we didn't have Twitter, Facebook, bleacher report back then.

We do love in a hyper aware media age, which is why it matters. People care a great deal now and I don't think it is wise to entrust the future of a franchise to someone like him

I think the chiefs should take Winston in the first. They are not so bad at any one position where they HAVE to take anything, but they are not good enough to ever win it currently. If winston works out he could be just what that team needs to put them over the top

Winston is so dumb and reckless that he would get in trouble even before the social media era.

I wouldn't draft him in the first round at all. Mariotta is a much better option. When it comes to the second tier players though,
I'm not sure. None of them impress me too much (Petty, Hundley, Etc).

But they probably also weren't the NFL in a hyper media age so it didn't matter.

Any GM stupid enough to waste a draft pick on him is getting exactly what he deserves.
