We are averaging 10 yards per pass play. 1.8 yards per rush play. I really wish we would stop wasting plays running it.

What irony? Find one post of mine where I advocated running more. Every time somebody complained about running more, I told them they won't like the result if they get their way. I have ALWAYS been an opponent of the Saints running more than a handful of plays per game.

Running is stupid.

Why? We are averaging 10 yards per passing play and 2 per running play. Running in the NFL is way overrated. The opportunity cost of a pass play with a good passing offense is just way too high to justify it.

Just stop. You can't do anything without balance in this league. And one game is not a large enough sample size to where you can call for this without looking ridiculous

What do you not understand about me saying that I have ALWAYS said this. I am not using 1 game to formulate my opinion on running. I am commenting on 1 game based on an opinion based from a massive sample size.

Yes you can. You can throw all over teams. Best offenses and best passing offenses are almost synonymous in the NFL.

not running the ball enough was the main reason that we've dropped 6 out of the last 9 games we've lost.

If we would have run the ball more on the last drive there would be under 2 minutes left in the game right now.

Link? I'm seeing a lot of 4 yards per play run games. I don't think we needed more 4 yard plays. And I have no problem with running the ball up two scores to burn clock.

so the fact that the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2009 which was the highest run percentage of any year under Brees/Payton means nothing to you?

you don't understand football. Also - the run helps set up the pass and makes it easier. Brees and Payton love the PA fake and it works best when teams really believe you might run the ball.

It does. That we were winning a lot of games and so running the ball to run out the clock. I understand the run helps set up the pass. But don't act like you average 4.7 yards per run and 4.9 yards per pass. There is a massive different in yards per play. You can afford for your yards per pass play to go down if you have more of them.

I understand football. You probably think teams punt an appropriate amount of times too.
