Gaining Momentum
Posted by Vandyfan19 on 10/19/14 at 11:38 am40
It's possible that this young tiger team has started to gain some much needed momentum. Last nights dominating win over UK was impressive for multiple reasons rather it was the defense holding Kentucky to just 217 yards of total offense, playing good defense on third down, or Magee showing his talent. I realize that Kentucky is not a great football team but they were on a winning streak and playing with confidence coming into last night's game. Plus, after how pitiful our defense looked against MSU and Auburn I had my doubts we would hold anyone under 300 total yards this season. This team still has some major question marks, especially about the QB situation, but I feel a lot better about the Ole Miss matchup than I did two weeks ago.

Look I dont think LSU runs the table but I felt this team would greatly improve throughout the season. This team has me VERY optimistic for next season as far as making a playoff run goes.

Unfortunately.. I think Tennessee and LSU have a pretty similar caliber of offense. Both teams have decent defenses.
Ole Miss is going to be tough. They're going to be amped up and it's the best defense we will play all season.

LSUs running game is far better than Tennesee's as are our WRs. Jennings needs to get in a mini rhythm and we can pull the upset.

For me, the best part about last night was watching the intensity and heart of team. I don't think we are going to win out, but man they looked amped running around laying people out last night. It was something I felt we were lacking and it was good to see.

All we need is for Jennings to hit a few deep throws to keep them honest. If he can complete 3-4 deep throws, Magee and LF run wild and tigers win!! Amirite!?!?
Please?
Please?

Winning out is probably a stretch, especially since we still play Bama, but if we go 8-4 with a young team should not really be considered a down year, there are programs out there that would kill to go 8-4.

why do you guys keep trying to discredit this team. KY and Tenn are very similar....NOT LSU and Tenn.
LSU is gaining tremendous confidence. It is going to be a slugfest in Baton Rouge next week. The crowd is going to be electric. LSU will win the game. It might be ugly....but they will win it.
People underestimate the impact of playing in Tiger Stadium. Is LSU beatable there? Absolutely. However, look back over the tenure of Les Miles and look at the losses at home....few and far between, and most are to Bama or other very good teams, and even at that they are USUALLY close losses. Look several weeks back against MSU......despite very young and inexperienced against #1....LSU was a completion away from winning the game.

I agree if they could roll jennings out for few long throws and completions because to be honest it will be difficult to run next week against that d. If no passing next week will be a long night. This game will almost be the exact game we will get against bama.

For me the best part was watching LSU's improvement overall especially O line, special teams, and defense. LSU fans just needed to show a little patience with this very young LSU team.

I said immediately after the Auburn game that we would go 7-5 to 8-4. Of course, I got blasted here by all the expert negatigers that said LSU is the worst West team and would not win another game this year.
It's hard to say right now where they finish. They beat Ole Miss this week, and there is a very real chance they could run the table and end up in a very good bowl game. They run the table, they would be in the top 10 for sure. That said, they could easily still go 7-5 to 8-4.......9-3 would be a great year for this team, IMO.

The TEAM has improved greatly during the season. Sadly the QB play has not.
I think with AJ you have now what you will have. BH will not develop much in mop up duty. So while the rest of the team could be poised to make run next year the QB position will once again lag behind.

Agree 100%. Will be coming down off the mountain and in BR for this one.

I don't buy the young team excuse. The Auburn and MSU game is on the coaches. The team looked lost and underprepared. Most of our issues are on the coaches. Offensively, we still have issues. However, defensively and on special teams we showed a fire and desire to win that we didn't show previously. The D looked prepared and hungry. Props to Chief and the rest of the D staff. The players are only as good as the coaches allow them to be. And last night they allowed them to dominate by preparing the right way and putting them in position to make plays all night. Unfortunately, the QB play was......well you know.
