IMHO, they got it right with Arnold and I even liked 2 with Danny Glover and the LA drug war backdrop. Didn't really like the AvP's, but the 2010 "Predators" grew on me. Anyway, I was just watching some of these fan videos this morning, and it made me think that there's a lot of cool ways they could go with the stories. A historical Predator would be awesome, anywhere from like Civil War era to a WWII backdrop, to a possible Green Berets vs Predator in Vietnam.

This "untitled" fan made video.... LINK, is where you can kind of get a feel for how endless the possibilities could be. Especially for some of us historical/war movie junkies that also happen to like SciFi stuff.

Would any of y'all be excited for something like this? Or what would make an awesome Predator scenario?

Also here's another one I stumbled upon that could actually be pretty legit.

LINK (Predator vs Wolverine)

Love all three of those ideas, especially Predator vs. Samurai. Directed by Sergio Leone.

but now as an old man you think that's a bad idea?

And that was also gonna be one of the ideas I threw out there. A depressed civil war hero that goes out west to drink himself to death or get rich in a boom town, finds himself being challenged to want to live again. But then I was thinking it would be really hard to beat a Predator in an open environment where your weapons tech is limited and you're damn sure not beating them in a primal, good ole fashioned fist or knife fight that they always seem to end with.

Agreed!

Or even a Viking vs Predator in like 12th century. Or a Gladiator during the Roman era.

I like the Civil War idea. Cowboys vs Aliens has ruined any Old West type movie IMO.

How in the frick is a civil war era person supposed to defeat a predator?! I mean 90s era Bill Paxton couldn't beat one with his slicked back hair, so what hope does a civil war soldier have.

they've kind of fricked up the predator franchise...and that desire was in large part based on predator v. batman, which was awesome

It's actually very very good. Good performances, Brody works. The Score is a nice update. The mood is right. I like it a lot.

But yeah Predator is still top of the heap in the franchise.

I am. But I don't get the sacredness with something like Predator. It's the exact kind of property that could work in a lot of different eras/scenarios/etc.

The first one is one of the greatest action movies of all time.

Pretty much every final battle with the Predator vs Human ends with the human being forced to win using his primal warrior spirit and wits. It may take a team effort, but it's still not much different than Dutch having to beat him using handmade weapons and booby traps.

Never read the comics but always been a fan of the movies. Probably my favorite Sci-Fi creature / alien / monster, whatever you want to call it.

The AVPs weren't really that good but I did enjoy seeing the Predators with 21st Century effects for the 1st time.

I get that it comes down to a mano y mano situation in predator movies, but I mean they were still lining up and shooting each other in the Civil War. Dutch was a spec ops god.

Predators is on TV right now. Not sure how I missed this classic, with such a command performance by Laurence Fishburne as the mumbling, sweaty, fat old man.

Admittedly the weakest part of the movie.

true. But there were some clever, unconventional types in the 1860's too. shite look at the Swamp Fox in the Revolutionary War. Mel Gibson's Benjamin Martin would have been a formidable foe for the Predator.

I really love the Alien/Predator franchises and think they could do some cool stuff with both.

I hate horror as a genre but for some reason I really enjoy those two.
