Why did FSU win the 1993 title when ND beat them head to head and had the same record?

bc when you have the same record, sometimes the quality of the loss is the tiebreaker...

-ND lost later in the season
-ND had a worse loss
-ND beat FSU in South Bend
-Sentimental votes for Bowden (he had no titles, Holtz had one)

What is always the first tiebreaker in sports? Head to head. I will never figure that one out.

Keep in mind ND and Miami finished tied with 1 loss in 89. Miami beat them head to head. Who won the title? Miami in that case.

ND got screwed on both ends.

Yep, they should've won 3 years in a row. Refs did everything they possibly could to give it to FSU.
