You have to trust me on this one. You'll have blackface but it's totally worth it to take an hour every day to say hello to your neighbors and take a nice stroll around the block, and let that stuff settle in. Your neighbors will probably be shocked and angry, because they will suddenly realize they are missing out on one of the best kept secrets of the modern world.

Anybody ever try the bath and body works cream that comes in a green tube? I actually read about it on one of the shaving topics on here and its pretty damn good stuff.

It's rebadged Proraso, very good stuff.

I like it. It's the same stuff as any of the green Proraso brand, so you can get it in a hard soap or a tub of cream instead if either of those are your preference.

I use TOBS Almond too except I switched to Astra and Feather shaving blades. The almond cream has a nice, subtle scent.

Should I get this for my son?

I wouldn't. If I remember the thread from the other day I think you said the kid was like 16? Let him start with a regular 3blade razor.

One thing you could consider is getting him a cheaper brush and some of the better shaving cream like the one listed in the OP. My can of Taylor of Old Bond Street cream is 3 months old and I've only gone through 1/4 of it. It would last a teenage kid a really long time.

He can look on youtube for learning how to lather with the brush directly onto the face. It's so much better than those shave gels or aerosol creams.

I gave her links to I believe the Parker synthetic brush (very highly rated and comes with a stand for fairly cheap) and one of the TOBS creams, I believe Almond, with directions to search through the scents.

There was also a link to a Merkur 38hd and a 100 pack of Feathers, along with the biggest pack of band aids I could find along with a "don't seriously buy him the razor if he's not mature" line.

It was in response to her saying she didn't want to buy him "something cheap." I figured a high-middle end Merkur was pretty much universally accepted as both "not cheap" and, in general, a pretty good razor.

Today, I mauled my face so bad, and it was a hundred percent my fault. I was trying to quick shave before the Aggie game started, and I slammed the blade on my jaw line close to my ear. Blood everywhere. I had to do my third pass later in the day.

I've got some Proraso white coming on Monday. Looking forward to it.

This. For anyone.

You are really cheating yourself by not doing a brush. And by not using better creams.

I'm using Derby blades right now as well.

TOB is a great soap...I've had their Sandalwood and Eton College scents.
