Watching Enemy of the State and I realized it's been a while since he was in a movie so I checked IMDB and apparently he retired in 2004 after Welcome to Mooseport.

I thought, though he was basically the same character in a lot of his movies, he always nailed it.

He's 84 now. I would like to see him in one more good role before he passes.

I do.

Why did he retire? I forget.

Would imagine his health / memory might have forced him into retirement.

Seems like I read he was having issues remembering lines? Dementia maybe?

Maybe I made that up but I can't recall why he retired for sure.

No, that does sound familiar. I'll google.

I don't know if I buy that. He didn't have trouble getting great roles. Why would he all of a sudden freak out about going out like that?

Yea, sooner or later we're going to lose him, Christopher Walken, and Jack Nicholson.

I miss him. He was great in sarcastic roles and playing as an out of touch old man like lex Luther or mooseport.

It pains me to say it but this has no chance of happening.

I wish he did more westerns. He was great in Unforgiven and The Quick and the Dead.

And Clint Eastwood too. Look around at the popular actors now and tell me how they compare to those 4.

Hoosiers was the first movie I ever bought on my own. Fell in love with it in elementary school.

Just perfect as Royal Tenenbaum

That's funny because I was just watching Welcome to Mooseport this afternoon. I do miss him. He was a great actor.

The Quick and the Dead.

One of the top 3 worst Westerns ever made.

Top 25 worst movies ever made with a star cast (not counted B-movies). Maybe top 10 for this category.

He is one of the best. I really don't agree that he was the same character at all.

Anyway:

Bonnie and Clyde
The French Connection
The Conversation (do yourself a favor if you haven't seen this one; it's great)
Class Action
etc, etc, etc
