When I went, I had to stay the whole time on the first day, but at the end of the day I was told to report back on a certain day for a specific jury pool. By 9am that day, I was dismissed because the defendant took a plea bargain, and if you're dismissed, there is nothing in their records indicating whether you were there for an hour or the entire day.

sit there and wait to be called. if you are called say you're a card carrying raciss and then you'll be free to go.

Mother effing this. I am summoned in BR starting Monday too. You better believe I am going to try to figure out who you are. I'll be the guy looking over people's shoulders to see who has TD on their phone.

Edit... See you're in Nola. Oh well.

Not sure. I've been summoned three times but never had to go.

Ive been summoned quite a few times but never actually had to serve. If picked see it as an oppurtunity to serve your community and be as a
fair as possible.

Just go find this shirt and wear it Monday, you'll get out of duty.

I've been summoned a few times but never had to serve. My sister had to serVe on a murder trial a few years ago. She had to stay at a hotel without any contact for a couple days. If I remember right, they pay you a small sum if you are picked. Her employer paid he for doing her civic duty, which was nice of him...anyway the guy got found guilty, ....got Life

Depends. Don't lie about anything, though.

If you have some combination of: college degree, job, clean record, average IQ, etc., you probably won't get selected.

If it's some case you really don't want to be on, be coming up with any connection that could get you disqualified. I got called for a child abuse case that was a he-sad/she-said kind of deal related to a divorce. Wanted no part of that, so I named every attorney I knew/was related to and every cop I know. When I noted that my sister-in-law was an assistant ADA in the next county, the defense attorney said, "hey, I know her." Talk about a big sigh of relief.

if you are in nola, you might expect to visit 2 times a week for the month - this might just be picking up your schedule, depending on the court.
