Tips on removing underbrush on a few acres?

Don't really feel like burning it. Knowing my luck I'll catch the entire state of Mississippi on fire.
Don't feel like buying a 20,000 dollar piece of machinery because I don't have 20,000 to spend.
Are there any chemicals that would work? I guess I could give out there and do it by hand but I'm pretty fricking lazy. Any recommendations?

Rent the equipment and try to get it done in a day?

Need more information...
How many acres is a few? What size is the brush and what kind of plants/trees/briars is it? Different chemicals kill different things and spraying the wrong stuff would just be a waste. If its big stuff you will probably need to rent a piece of machinery regardless.

You can chemical spray with skidder or helicopter for $80 an acre. Allow 6-8 weeks for brush to die. Call forestry and have a fire break cut around perimeter( $75/hr). Call forestry prior to burning and they will either burn it for you (small fee) or monitor it, at no cost.

Go to equipment dealer.
Tell them you are in the market for a brand new T300 Bobcat with a bushhog and you want to pay cash.
Tell them you need to test a used one first though on a Friday.
Use the equipment over the weekend to cut brush.
Haul back to dealer and tell them you've lost interest in the purchase.

That's what I was thinking about doing. Head up to Home Depot and grab a few brush hogs

I didn't know forestry would monitor fires for you. Thanks. I'll have to look into that

I've read about people using goats to get rid of this stuff. I don't know what I would do with the goats when I'm done

That's some strong shite?
Should I brush hog it before and then spray it?

I have done this on a few pieces of property and the bobcat with the cutter on the front is THE way to go. Chemical will kill the brush, but you still have dead brush and when you go to burn it the fire may get hot enough to burn back your good trees. Use the bobcat and then maintain from there.
