We are spread too thin cuz you have decimated our military. So Obola says FU, and I'll show you who is in charge. I will send in the National Guard.

Plausible.
I think governors should all activate their NG units and have Obama formally federalize them and explain why.

Why do you think I was trying to be funny?

Lets get past the hurt feelings, but what is your honest view on my thesis?
Posted on 10/16/14 at 9:39 pm to Da Sheik
I think our military has been dissolved into so many fiefdoms that there was enthusiastic support by whatever lords of war could participate and allow their careers to profit from such endeavors.

You care to address OP or are you going to do this nonsense again?
Posted on 10/16/14 at 10:09 pm to Paluka
Nothing to address. I "think" he is wrong. Same amount of evidence.
Posted on 10/16/14 at 10:15 pm to Paluka
Nothing to address, it's an obvious troll attempt.

Really?
I think not.

Actually this wasn't the military high brass saying FU to anyone. Or rather, I guess you could say so, but it was said almost 40 years ago. Sorry to splash some cold water on all those boners out there... but this is the way the military is set up actually.
OK... post Vietnam the US Army was less popular then VD and quite rightly felt it had been hung out to dry. In order to make it more difficult for long term military deployments to happen without formal approval of the nation (declaration of war type stuff) they put several important military specialties mostly in the Guard or Reserves.
That way if the Army got sent to some third world hell hole they would have to take the Guard with them. No more hiding back home in the states and no more letting the country pretend the Army was off just doing its own thing.
We activated several Guard units for Gulf War I to support forces there as an example. Gulf War II was a bit different, we activated Guard units outside the specialists to help rotate troops through the theater of combat along with the specialists the Army needs to fight.
I am not as familiar with the Navy side of things but I think the Air Force also calls up the Reserves and Air Guard support units for major over seas missions as well.
This isn't the military throwing a hissy. This is the military doing exactly what it was built to do post-Vietnam.

Not saying you can't make the argument that we shouldn't send the military to Liberia mind you. I am just saying that if we send them there to build hospitals then they are taking the Guard and Reserves with them.

He's eventually sending 4000 troops. 600 are there already. They're building 17 hospitals and teaching health care workers how best to treat this.
There are experimental drugs. There's the survivor blood transfusion. Take off your hate hat and see that the best way to slow this outbreak is to do so at its sources. Less people infected, less people dying, less outbreak.
If you're really concerned about Ebola, you should probably stop reading Ann Coulter and start reading medical professionals.

Yeah, great post and informative
Makes me wanna go study this now
I'm not sure how anyone can blame someone for being freaked while being deployed to these Ebola hot-bed-zones. I couldn't blame anyone for not wanting to go, and Bless our Troops while they do such noble thing.
