Really hope Riverside doesn't curb stomp Newman
re: LHSAA week 7... last chance for some teamsPosted by JJ27 on 10/16/14 at 9:33 am to chalmetteowl
Ruston hasn't beaten West Monroe since 1990. WM has beaten them several times in the playoffs during that run. I believe it's 26 times in a row now.

Question for the Rummel guys here. Yalls football teams have always been good, so I would think you would have fond high school memories of this. However, do you think playing games on Saturday kind of ruin the High School experience? Playing during the day on Saturday especially blows, but playing on Saturday night screws over anyone who gives a shite about LSU too. Just seems crazy to me that Rummel wasnt allowed to build their own football stadium to avoid this. Bs if you ask me

as a kind of peripheral fan of Rummel due to family connections, I liked it bc I'd go see the Owls play Friday night and Rummel on Saturday (mostly at night, but sometimes during the day as well)
when you're in HS in Metairie, you're generally not giving that much of a shite about a college in Baton Rouge. besides the big LSU games come on the afternoon on CBS. yall know this.
later in the playoffs, after all the other teams that use Yenni get eliminated (unlike last year), Rummel does get Yenni on Friday nights
one other weird thing... it's probably anecdotal, but I swear the weather is always perfect whenever I go to a Saturday game...

from a fellow Chalmette fan on facebook after last week's game...
i don't know if he has a point... this is just my opinion but I don't think it matters by high school if a kid gets into rec league football at a certain age. I think 9 and 10 is a good age for it.
you hear of football players who excel in college and get drafted by the pros playing little organized football before those points...
honestly, our problems are a little of everything... a little of Tucker's game coaching, a little bad luck, a little of players not being as good as originally thought, a little injury problems (star RB Connor Lambert), and a little of playing 10 legit teams and having no sure wins or no sure losses. I've already lobbied for us to put two cupcakes on the next scheduling cycle, the reasoning being that we get two free wins and healthier kids for the other 8 games

My HS team played against De La Salle on a Saturday during my sophomore year (2004). I remember being livid that I couldn't watch the LSU-Arkansas State game that day

Rummel has always had Saturday games, especially when it comes to Catholic League games.

Yeah, I remember that being an issue in 04 when I went there. There were signs in front of every house protesting against it.
The school has the perfect setting for it as well. It's a shame the neighborhood thinks otherwise.

Their d line is massive.
I like how Newman spread Tyler to wide out. It makes it more difficult to cover him and Bussey.

judging by google maps, they've long outgrown any stadium they could put on that site... and that was the case when they were talking about building it too
