0 to 100 how worried are you now of Ebola and/or CDC incompetence?

I've been at a 0 until this morning when I read this in the reddit comment thread about the 2nd nurse being cleared by the CDC to fly.
So I'm about at a 30 now because my faith in the CDC is beginning to erode. It really does seem like they're treating ebola as a nuisance rather than a major problem. They're not taking this serious enough.
quote:
Here's my experience with them yesterday:
On Tuesday, October 14 I flew on Frontier flight 2042 from DFW to CLE, only eleven hours after Amber Vinson had traveled on the same plane from CLE to DFW. The following is an account of Frontier’s attempt to rush the turnaround of the plane on the night of October 12, which likely compromised the cleaning procedure, and the CDC’s response to my concerns about traveling on flight 2042.
News articles have stated that Frontier flight 1143 landed at 8:16 p.m. CST. My text message records indicate that Frontier had begun boarding the DFW to CLE flight (1142), on the same plane as 1143, prior to 8:33 p.m. CST. After a short wait, Frontier began deplaning the same passengers by 8:56 p.m. CST (per my text records). Frontier then announced that though they had tried to hurry the turnaround, the crew had "time out", and it would be illegal to continue flying that night, and the flight was then cancelled. Flight 2042 was created and scheduled for 7:45 a.m. CST the morning of October 14, using the plane from flight 1143, in order to accommodate the passengers of flight 1142 to CLE.
My concern is that Frontier has publicly claimed to have cleaned the airplane consistent with CDC guidelines, per their "normal procedures" (their quote), in the time between flights 1143 and 1142 however, the time available to do this was less than 17 minutes, which as the time from landing to when boarding was already in progress, and the turnaround was rushed in an attempt to avoid allowing the crew to "time out". Given the lack of time and the rushed nature of the turnaround, it seems unlikely to me that the CDC’s cleaning standards were adhered to.
I contacted the CDC yesterday at 12:40 p.m. EST at 800-232-4636 to inquire about any steps I should take, having been on flight 2042. I was redirected to 866-933-5295 (though I was told it would not be available until 1:00 p.m. EST), which I was told as a number specifically meant to address issues related to flight 1143. When I called that number at 2:13 p.m. EST and expressed my concerns about being on 2042 only eleven hours after Amber Vinson, the individual answering my call chuckled and said I had nothing to worry about. She took my phone number and checked with the medical expert present. Returning to the phone, she chuckled again and repeated that I had nothing to worry about because the plane had been cleaned and the virus couldn’t survive that long anyway. However, the CDC’s website states that Ebola can survive on dry surfaces for “several hours” and in bodily fluids at room temperature for up to several days.
So... we'll see.

The issue isn't whether the CDC's guidelines were adhered to. The CDC's guidelines are totally fricked to begin with. They were suggesting the healthcare workers wear PAPER GOWNS to deal with Ebola patients when Doctors Without Borders specifically told them "this is a bad idea." (Great NYTimes article about this: LINK). In W. Africa, the doctors (at least those in Doctors Without Borders) wear full rubber suits, two pairs of gloves, and are sprayed down with chlorine solution when they de-suit. The CDC doesn't have remotely acceptable guidelines to begin with, and that's why we're having these problems in the first place.
quote:
I don't really know where to put this but I guess I'll add to your 'guidelines are totally fricked' point. This is a video my brother (med student) was directed to as part of their hospital wide 'readiness' shite. I could probably get the email and power point and stuff from him, too.
The PP was basically a glossing of ebola history, symptoms, and such. I don't have medical training outside of BSA general and bonus merit badge shite, CPR/human bio from HS, and growing up with family/friends in the field (better than most, I guess?). I am an Engineer and like to think I have some critical thinking skills, at least, and this video scares the shite out of me.
Aside from the PPE seeming woefully inadequate (pathetic mask no.1 question for me), the 'doffing' (linked to) seems counterintuitive.
Blows my mind that they tell you to take you gloves off first, the second one being removed by sliding your finger between your sleeve and the glove with an ungloved hand. Then, without making sure your hands are actually clean, you are supposed to put them right next to your goddamn eyes to take off your goggles. No room for error there, right?
Then it is time for the gown. They even mention the most likely places for contamination on the gown are the front and sleeves. The sleeves where you just slid your bare fricking fingers and then you grab the front of your gown to reach the fricking ties. Then, you again grab the front to take it off and roll it with your still bare fricking hands.
Finally, after how many times you might have touched contaminated shite they tell you to take your mask off, once again, right next to your eyes and now mouth, WITHOUT frickING WASHING YOUR GODDAMN frickING HANDS. Am I out of my mind or does this not just scream self contamination risk??
So I'm about at a 30 now because my faith in the CDC is beginning to erode. It really does seem like they're treating ebola as a nuisance rather than a major problem. They're not taking this serious enough.

I was at 0 until I heard how the hospital handled the liar that brought it here. I hit 30 when I heard one of the dumbass nurses got on a commercial flight. Then reading and listening to the CDC guy and I'm up around 70.
I have zero faith in the CDC and Obama might be the worst possible president in american history to handle this.
I know the flu kills people, but that's weak people and babies. Ebola kills healthy people too.

You're getting stomped on b/c this is the 400th ebola thread, but it's a good one. The "how scared are you" subject doesn't help...
I don't trust the competence of the CDC as a whole. They're more likely to frick this up and fix it.
However, the reaction of the public to Ebola is still overblown. We've dealt with H1N1 and other viruses before, some being even more deadly and easier to spread.
