If hypothetically things do get that bad and it's time to shelter down. When do you make that decision?
I think that's why this society would crumble because you wouldn't have that one official day everyone quits going places and spreading the disease.

Dude, this shite is going to be under control here in the US sooner than later.
Cant say the same for Africa and other 3rd world countries. They are fricked but the US will close borders and travel and handle it before it becomes too widespread.

I'm not panicing over Ebola, just using that as an example. The point is, when do you actually make that decision to quit going to work and out in public. If you really think about it, that's a tough call.

I'm more worried about it what it will do to our global trade and economy than I am about potentially coming into contact with it.
Ebola spreading on top of gas prices dropping (less oilfield jobs) and people don't realize we may be in for another huge drop in the economy soon. That's the other reason I LoL at the threads about Houston and NOLA real estate and people paying over asking prices right now.

people have been paying over asking prices in New Orleans for 15 years.

Drop in gas prices has nothing to do with oil field jobs, they do not quit drilling based on gas prices. Prices are low because there are alot of oil and gas jobs

Apparently nothing like they are now though.
NOLA and Houston are just a few examples. It's going on everywhere. The hardest hit though will be Houston, Laffy, Lake Charles when the oil companies are no longer willing to frack and do other expensive drilling methods there will be a lot fewer $100K millionaires with cash to burn.
Couple that with a worldwide plague and yea...not pretty.

Gas prices are dropping because we are producing more oil than ever right now. More production means more jobs.

No. Prices dropped because production in other countries has gone back up. We have had rises over the years because all the other oil producing countries have had limited output due to constant conflicts. That has subsided some and supply has gone up.
It's basic supply and demand. Has nothing to do with there being more oil jobs. In fact there are only more oil jobs here because of the limited output the other countries have had which made it profitable for oil companies to use the more expensive means of drilling here.

Do you work in oil & gas field?
Posted on 10/16/14 at 8:05 am to Jack Daniel
Nope. Just a share holder.
You can find tons of analyst with proven track records in the energy market that are all preaching the same things right now.
I am in real estate though and people think I am wrong about the bubble but it has all the signs of the sub prime bubble of the early 2000s. The money is a little harder to get though because they tightened subprime lending since then but it's still a sudden unhealthy artificial rise in the market.
