As much as I think Padma Lakshmi has no reason to be judging at this level, I think Richard Blais needs to go more, he is trying to hard to be and "expert" that he is overly critical.

Is he going to be the 4th judge the entire season instead of the other guy? And what happened Padma's arm.

It is an interesting show, but a)the contestants are a lot more professional chefs than they used to be; b)it's not really a contest - ultimately the person who Tom C thinks is the best cook will win (unless they completely blow the final, like Blais did). Several times the person who did not cook the best in the finals won.

I've only watched one season and that was the last one in New Orleans. I wasn't overly bowled over by the show. I watched, sort of, last night. Not sure I'll follow the whole show, but it's taping automatically, so maybe. The judging seems a bit strange to me on this show.

In addition to not have any food cred, she is also boring and talentless.

The NOLA season may have been the worst of all the seasons. I've seen every "regular" Top Chef season and I'm from NOLA. It was sad to see our city viewed as some Katrina charity project..... 8 YEARS later! /rants

I thought last night was ok and will keep watching. I hope they get off the local cuisine soon and allow the chefs to create what they want.

ETA: Just realized I responded to you, Gris Gris. You may already be aware of my thoughts on the NOLA season.

Looks like he may just be a guest judge.

Returning to the judges table for the new season in New England are head judge Tom Colicchio, judges Gail Simmons, Hugh Acheson, and host Padma Lakshmi.
