PFF's elusive rating is defined here:

quote:

As dependent on their blocking as they are, what are running backs actually creating on their own? The PFF Elusive Rating sifts out their work beyond the help they get. Using the number of missed tackles runners force on all touches (rushing and receiving) and our Yards After Contact tallies, the Elusive Rating formula spits out a score that helps rank the league’s best at making things happen when it’s completely up to them.

PT is currently 6th in the NFL this year with 2.42 yards/attempt after contact and 19 Missed Tackles.

From 09-11 seasons, he accounted for 84 missed tackles with an average of 2.1 yards after 1st contact.

2014 - 6th with 19 MTs and 2.42 after contact
2013 - 18th with 43 MTs and 2.2
2012 - 8th with 30 MTs and 2.78
2011 - 8th 33 abd 2.87
2010 - 44th with 16 MTs and 2.42
2009 - 3rd with 35 MTs and 3.03

He doesn't really do much to make people miss either. Just a little change of direction here and there goes a long way with him

Low center of gravity and exceptional balance goes a long way. Not to mention his vision is as good as anyone in the NFL.

Nothing bad ever happens when the ball is in PT's hands.

Yep, the only bad play i can remember him "making" was when he broke his jaw and was left unconscious vs. SF in the playoffs. I'll give him a pass on that fumble I guess

I remember being pissed at the announcers b/c they didn't even mention his injury. One of the scarier hits I've seen

If he has to catch the CTE and become a mush head for something bad to happen, that's pretty impressive.

Reminds me of Kieland Williams and his "fumbling" problem. He had 1 fumble in his career when he broke his bone. You could hear him scream for the stands.

Anyways, PT is having another very good year. Who knows what he'll have to do to get the ball more at this point, but he saved our arse last week.

I always liked him coming out of the backfield more than Sproles (outside of 2011). PT is a first down machine

the first guy always misses. When he makes a cut, there isn't a lot of noise there. It's just so fluid. That is what i attribute it to, at least. Very deceptive

He has great control of his whole body, that is what makes him so elusive imo.

He is not the most athletic, fastest, or even strongest RB, but he has great vision and knows where he needs to go and where his leading blockers will be.

Jack of all trades

That hit played a big part in why the Saints lost. Now I am upset.

Perfect way to describe it. It doesn't even look like he's making a move. Just a slight change in direction and he's running through that arm tackle

This was going to be my original title, but I think his balance and vision are just top notch.

So we've got one of the most Elusive backs….the best WR rookie, the best TE, a top 5 QB, and Mark Ingram who is busting out, yet our offense still sucks this year

ahem, Payton.

Disappointing at times, yes, but they hardly suck. Drew needs to get rid of those 2 or 3 idiot throws he has every game and I think we're in decent shape.

He put the team on his back last game. I hope they give him more touches the rest of the season and stop throwing the ball to Colston who only catches half the passes that are thrown to him. I bet Colston's elusive rating is -17

We have the #1 offense in the NFL, so I don't think suck is the right word.

Suck for the Sean Payton era Saints: yes.

He needs to run the ball more, and the 5 wide on 1st down vs. CLE really rustled my jimmies, but Jahri Evans has been our issue on offense this year. Hopefully the bye week brings him back to his all-pro self

From 4th in PBE last year to 2nd to last

Why doesn't he get more playing time? Is he essentially going to become Sean Payton's Kevin Faulk?

This is a new trend for him. He's been one of the best players in the NFL at drop %.

He also tore it up at the end of last year when he got healthy. I don't know what his problem has been, but we need him to get his head out of his arse.\
