2011 it dropped 636.

Oil prices wreaking havoc, ebola, Greece (again), etc.

The institutional investors are pulling back, hedge funds have been taking a walloping. Small cap O&G have been taking a beat down too.

Most of the volatility is coming from over seas though, domestic numbers look to be just fine.

I'm still a bull on GG as long as gold holds above the $1050 mark.

If I were you, whatever you pick, I'd sock that whole grand into one company (preferably a blue chip dividend aristocrat) to avoid losing money on commission fees.

S&P down 9% since Sept highs.

Man we've been waiting for this pullback.
Have a ton of cash on the sideline.
Putting a bit back in today.

I'm 23 and fresh into the workforce. Have my 401K contribution at 13% and have am getting ready to open a Roth as well. I had some left over savings money from my college job and graduation I would like to start investing in the stock market. It's not in anything yet.

Trying to decide if I want to put some more in. I'm on salary right now, but it's just enough to pay the bills. I have some other money socked away I've saved. Not sure if I should just wait to I have more steady capital

I've been out since Sept 25th. It's a good feeling.

Folks should have a "rainy day fund".
That can certainly be part of a portfolio, but should be set up to allow ready access. Really an individual thing re: tolerances though, jb.

Agreed on all points.

People have been predicting a significant pullback for a year or more. Now that we have one in progress, you'd think the Zombie Apocalypse was upon us.
