UPDATE: ***Week 1 nominations on 3rd post***

In an attempt to further this board's superiority to others on TD, I decided we need a new project to help spread the knowledge of music that others may be unfamiliar to others

This is the idea behind the project:

-You get one album a week to suggest to all other MB regulars. Nominations last 1 day (first week nomination period ends on the 15th) Anybody can play, but try to participate often.

-Only the first let's say...5 albums suggested are considered per week (this can be changed, suggestions are open about how to do this) You don't have to listen to all 5, but at least one of those 5 for that week if you wanna participate.

-This album should be one that you figure most other MB regs have not listened to before. Try and give a little information about it and why you picked that album.

-Over the course of that week all other participating MBers should listen to this album (preferably multiple times. really get to know the album)

-At any point in time during the week type out what you thought of it, and some stuff about it. What you liked/didn't like, best/worst songs, best/worst lyrics, etc. The more in depth you get about it the better. If you want to even do a song by song review, more power to you.

-Then after that we start over on a new week, so participating MBers are always listening to new music and spreading new ideas around.

The floor is open for album nominations

for the 5 nominations we could do like 5 different genres and you choose a nomination from each genre and make that the week's albums

Excellent, I like this idea already

I know some of regulars here have heard this album, if not, it's my first nomination for the week.

Neon Indian-Era Extrana.

quote:

Era Extraña is the second studio album by American electronic music band Neon Indian, released on September 7, 2011 by Static Tongues and Mom + Pop Music. The album was recorded during the winter of 2010–11 in Helsinki, Finland, where frontman Adam Palomo was living for four weeks.

Will link a youtube link to the album when I'm not at work

First album should be

Meatbodies self titled debut album Meatbodies

Vice and pitchfork have given it good reviews. I think its time for music board to give it a try.

Future sick and polish girl are the best songs off that album. Psychic chasms is better

He needs to come out with a new album. I met at his show at one eyed jacks three years ago. Real nice guy

I wanted to do Psychic Chasms, but I figured everyone that would play has heard that album a million times.

Suns erupt and Arcade Blues are good on that album too.

But I agree, he needs to do new music. That song he did for GTA 5 (Change of Coast) was legit but a giant cocktease

I like the idea for 5 different genres...I think that way people would be more inclined to play, so they don't have to subject themselves to rap if they don't like rap, or jam blands, or what the hell ever

Steve Gunn - Way Out Weather
Released Oct. 7
quote:

It’s been a good year for the friends of Kurt Vile. Adam Granduciel’s latest album as the War on Drugs is one of the year’s standouts, and now Steve Gunn , formerly one of Vile’s Violators, has released something very nearly as good. Where War on Drugs play cosmic MOR, Gunn goes for a kind of cosmic Americana. The melodies seemed soaked in a timeless well of American music: the album feels both new and familiar at the same time, every song a clever layering of Gunn’s guitars – acoustic, electric, steel, and assorted effects pedals, but all separated clearly, so there’s no hint of sonic mush. Gunn’s voice is perfect, too: a little enervated, dazed, but smoky and engaged. There’s also a perfect and dramatic change of pace and tone for the album’s closing track: Tommy’s Congo strips out the Americana and ups the cosmic, taking a West African-inspired guitar line and extending it into a blissful drone that out-Goats Goat.
