There are a couple who have won 3, none others with 3 in a row, but Ben Wallace wins with 4 in 5 years followed by Dikembe Mutombo with 4 over 7 years.

That's pretty nice company and Howard isn't done. His injuries were pretty serious and the team flipping didn't help. He'll be a top 5 defensive player this year (I think he finished around 5th in rating last season)..

I've finally figured you out. I thought, maybe this guy just has a different opinion than everyone else or is just kind of...offbeat. But you are definitely the most subtle troll in this sites history.

Kudos.

The guy said that Howard is the 5th best Center in the league, behind Hibbert and Asik, and I'm trolling? Seriously?

I get the Noah and Gasol love on here. They are good Centers playing on excellent defensive teams, surrounded by great defensive players. But that doesn't mean that Howard is suddenly hot garbage. He was hurt and has struggled adjusting to a new team. But he is still a potential dominant defensive center that can and has put up 20+/14+/2+.. Until Cousins and Drummond finish putting it all together (or Davis moves to his natural spot), Howard is the best Center in the league..

You said Howard is "far and away" the best center in the league.

So...if he's that much better than Noah or Gasol, would you trade Noah or Gasol and a 1st round pick for him?

I mean, he's far and away the best.

Sure. I'd rather Davis, Cousins or Drummond, because of age and potential (plus back injuries scare me). But I'd take Howard over those two. Noah and Gasol are in better situations and play in systems that accentuate their strengths. But they are not better players. Gasol couldn't even crack 15/8 last season. You are really going to say he is the best Center in the league? All 3 are about the same age (Howard is actually younger) and Howard's career mud stomps the other two. It's not even close...

Career
Noah- 9.9/9.4/1.5 bpg (2 all stars, 1 DPOY)
Gasol- 13.5/7.9/1.5 bpg (1 all star, 1 DPOY)
Howard- 18.3/12.9/2.2 bpg (8 all star, 3 DPOY)

Tell me again how Gasol or Noah are better..

We played a very good game last night. Not too many mistakes. Asik and AD got the board covered. I have no doubt we'll be one of the best rebounding teams in the league. It was great seeing Jrue back in full sing as well as Ryno!! GEAUX PELS

So you would trade Marc Gasol and a 1st Round Pick to get Dwight Howard?

Awesome.

You wouldn't? I would bet you a dollar you couldn't even name who Memphis took in the 1st round this summer. Hell I would had to look it up. But yes, I would trade Gasol and Jordan Adams for Dwight Howard. Memphis would even be a better team, which I'm sure is blasphemy for all the Gasol lovers in here...

Neither of these guys are back in the swing particularly Ryno. He looked overweight and really slow/unagile imo.

I never watched the game, but this seems surprising.

I think Memphis might be the only team in the league where Howard wouldn't be preferred to Gasol and that's only due to their style of play on offense. There's a few others I could make arguments for, but it's really not worth the discussion.

Howard vs. Noah is a much more intriguing discussion to me, and that's only because of the intangibles that Noah brings. Noah brings a fire and toughness to the table that Dwight simply doesn't have. I think it's worth the raw talent drop off for the mental edge he brings to the team for someone like the Pelicans.

Yeah, I've been convinced he's not a Pelicans fan for quite a while. All he does is bash the team then he adds some colorful language to seem emotionally invested. Schticks gone schtick.

I still think Howard is the best center in the league, but Gasol and Noah are much better passers than Howard.

FWIW I think the Pels match up very nicely vs the Rockets. The Howard/Asik matchup doesn't frighten me one bit. I think those games will be determined by how many fouls Harden draws at the rim (who would've guessed?), and whether or not Davis and Asik can alter his shots without getting in foul trouble.

Do you think morey would've traded ASik to the Pels if he had any concerns at all that Houston would then have issues beating the PEls w ASik? Come one mane.

Morey had no concerns when he thought he was getting Bosh and keeping Parsons. Without either, the Pels match up nicely.

Asik should guard Howard without help. Howard will get his, but it won't be easy. And if the Rockets force feed him, it will grind their offense to a halt.

I don't really have to prove my loyalty or dedication. I come on here cause I like talking about basketball. I follow the Pelicans because they are my local team and I want them to get better, because I want them to stay. You can call it a shtick if you like, but I'm not jumping on the bandwagon or agreeing with guys just because I want to get along.

Also, how does debating D. Howard bash the Pelicans? I think some of you guys are a bit too sensitive..
