To be fair, the few Serbians that I know personally are very down to earth, friendly and well educated. However I've also encountered a large majority both from Serbia and Republic of Serbia who are straight arse clowns and I wouldn't waste my spit on them.

One of my cross country teammates at ULM is Serbian. One of the coolest guys I know. From his stories I wouldn't want to meet some of his buddies back home though.

I'm guessing you got some language training abroad. I doubt your English language capabilities, which are impressive, came purely from the Serbian school system.
Serbs in the cities can speak English very well.
However, very few Serbs would say "bro," none would just call my "greeting" a "greeting" without the response, and he was up a little too late last night...

This could only happen if he's never set foot in an airport.

His response was odd when being asked about it.

I think it is pretty clear he is a troll. The English was the biggest tip.
If he is blind to the jingoism in Serbia then he's insane or in denial, we saw it yesterday.
I'd be willing to give Serbia a pass but that whole genocide thing got in the way.
However, It does make you wonder how badly the Turks (and through them the Muslim Albanians) treated the Serbs under Ottoman rule.

Really fricking badly.
I took a Balkan history class at LSU. I wish I could remember more. It was fascinating.
We read this book. It was pretty good and gave you a good idea of why serbs hate the turks.
The Bridge On The Drina. Link at the bottom to the book in English.
This was a bad start:

Devsirme[a] (literally "collecting" in Turkish), also known as the blood tax or tribute in blood, was chiefly the annual practice by which the Ottoman Empire sent military to abduct boys, sons of their Christian subjects (Rum millet) in the villages of the Balkans.[1] They were then converted to Islam[2] with the primary objective of selecting and training the ablest children for the military or civil service of the Empire, notably into the Janissaries.[3]

Guess I'll have to eat up my own words.
After 14 posts you keep calling me a "troll" because you can't comprehend that someone from Serbia can speak english.
What's that, if not profiling?
For your info, my pronunciation really sucks, because I mostly use written English, for my work, and pleasure. And I find articles and prepositions really hard.
Also, I know five spoken languages better than English.
@TN Bhoy, I never use "traditional" greetings and replies, even during Xmas or Easter. I go with "Happy holidays", and "Thanks".
I'm really impressed because you guys know that such a small country as Serbia, with size and population of State Virginia, exists.
I know about Virginia. I can find it on the map. But, that's it. I know about Virginians as much as you know about Serbians - almost nothing.
I can watch a video or two, see a few pics, and conclude that every Virginian wants to "make a glass crater out of f...ing Middle East". But that'd be wrong.
Here, crime rate is 70% lower than in the US. You can walk freely at night without fear, and don't need to avoid certain areas (well, except near Albanian border).
You won't get stopped for DWB. In a club, you'll never be allowed to pay for your own drink, by your host. You'll always find a place to couch surf for free.
Aversion towards Albanians and Croatian does exist. But the feeling is mutual. I'm free to say that the flame of hatred in Albanian and Croatian hearts burns stronger.
It takes two sides to make peace. We lost millions of people to Germans in WW1 and WW2. And yet, we have no problems with Germans today.
So, cut us some slack. To be able to understand the situation, you need to know history of the region.
cwil177 has some inkling.

This soccer board is very well educated and traveled. More than a few of us have been to the Balkans and we have a poster who is Bosnian here. Like I said before I grew up in an area with an extremely high Balkan population (Pretty sure its the highest in the states) and almost married a Bosnian, so I am very informed on the region.

You should hang around. Peeps like you fit in well here.
I'm not surprised that you have trouble with articles and prepositions. They don't exist in Serbian, I don't think. It's a common issue with Balkan people who learn English as a second language.
Also it doesn't surprise me that you learned English that well from the Internet and American tv shows. I have a Mexican friend who speaks extremely well just from watching how I met your mother

Another game has been drone-invaded.
IMHO, It's only a matter of time till someone uses a weaponized drone. It does not necessary have to be a sports match.
Imagine this scenario. You walk around, and mind your own business. Suddenly an armed quadcopter pops up in front of you and says "Your money or your life. Please deposit your wallet and your mobile phone into the slot. Thank you".
