6 were made for clients, which OT ballers scooped them up?

quote:

47 mm in diameter, 16.1 mm thick, the watch required eight years to develop; the movement has 1,366 components, including three gongs and three hammers, 20 complications and two dials; the case has 214 parts.

quote:

Only seven will be produced—six for clients and one for the Patek Philippe Museum. Its price? 2.5 million Swiss francs, or $2.6 million.
quote:

Mr. Stern justifies the figure with more statistics: eight years of research and development involving engineers, watchmakers and designers; 60,000 hours to produce the components for the watches; 100,000 hours for a team of watchmakers to assemble the watches.
quote:

Even at that spectacular price, he says he cannot make a profit.

This my friends is one of the most complicated movements ever designed. And they stuck in it the most butt ugly case they could find. FU PATEK

The gears, the jewels, the mainspring. The inner workings. This thing has gongs and shite. Multiple gongs. I think a tourbillion moonphase that counts the leap years may be more complicated but not sure.

what is the desire to have something with that many moving pieces and you can't see them?

is it more accurate?

No. More elaborate. It's like a fine motor in a car. Can't see it but you know it runs the entire show.

yeah but that equates to better performance...

what does more elaborate movements in a watch equate to?

not hating, just genuinely curious

It equates to more things it can do. This watch is only built using the best of the best material also.
