I forgot they have Dieng as well. They are really deep with alot of unproven guys. So not sure they would want to add to that. I would still love one of their young wings. Too bad we don't have any picks to offer. I wonder if they might bite on Gordon and Withey for Martin, Brewer and Budinger (LINK )? It gives them cap relief for next summer, minutes for the young wings and they can get rid of Martin. Gordon might opt out if he is stuck in Minnesota for a year. We'd finally have some good depth on the wing. We could keep Babbit and looks like this..

Holiday/Rivers/Smith
Evans/Salmons/Fredette
Brewer/Budinger/Miller
Davis/Anderson/Babbit
Asik/Ajinca/Young

I can dream..

Evans

might as well be

Evans
Aminu
Stiemsma

We know it doesn't work.

I don't know. Brewer is a bit more skilled than Aminu and hopefully the same for Asik vs Steimsma. I don't know what would work best next to Evans. I have watched him shine and struggle with all kinds of players around him. I know everybody wants more shooters but where do we get them?

There's just way too little spacing and scoring ability in that lineup. Yeah, its better than the other, but still has a spacing problem.

Evans and Anderson need to be tied at the hip. It was a VERY SMALL sample size, but Evans/Aminu/Anderson had an ORating of 124 and a DRating of 104 in 82 minutes. The offense worked brilliantly with 2 non shooters in Aminu and Evans.

If you remove Davis, they had a 136 ORating and a 101 DRating in 40 minutes. Again, SMALL SAMPLE warning, but Anderson unlocks so much with his skills.

I really want to see Evans/Anderson/Asik in action. That trio has serious potential, especially as a haymaker v 2nd units.

ETA: So much of the team's success this year is going to come down to how rotations shake out. :welp:

The TWolves cut Fesenko yesterday

The Timberwolves have waived center Kyrylo Fesenko. The Wolves' roster now stands at 17 players.

That leaves them with "only" Pekovic, Dieng and Turiaf at center. They certainly would have room for a guy like Withey and they have an oversupply of wings. The main problem being the ones they'd probably give away make too much money.

You know I'm looking at their depth chart on ESPN right now (LINK ) and they are going to have to cut a couple of these guys to get to 15. They may just go ahead and waive/buy out Budinger or Brewer, so we don't have to offer anything. Just have to have a spot available to sign them. What do you think?

Maybe the front office is just waiting for a decent veteran SF to get cut. We just need to make room..

I think the question then becomes do you cut Miller or Babbit, or try and find someone to give you a 2nd for Withey. With what we've seen out of our SFs, you have to take a close look at Buddinger on a minimum deal if he checks out medically.

I would hope they would grab Budinger in a hurry. I'm sure they would keep Evans as the starter though. Out of Babbit and Miller, I'm guessing I'd pick Miller. He seems a better fit at SF and he defends the position better.

But if they could move Withey, I'd be all for that. I really don't see Young as a PF, but he is bulky/strong enough to play C (ala D. Blair or a less skilled Sullinger). That way Babbit could move to PF as an emergency stretch 4 if Anderson is hurt.

Not sure if this is worthy of it's own thread or not, but the Nuggets are cutting Quincy Miller. He's not much of a shooter, but after looking at some highlights he looks like a decent slasher. Maybe a cheap replacement for some of the things we lost with Aminu?

quote:

The Denver Nuggets have informed Quincy Miller of the organization’s plan to waive the forward, a source with knowledge told RealGM on Tuesday night.

Miller, once a promising young prospect in the Denver franchise, had a partially guaranteed contract for the upcoming season. Miller’s release signals another step toward the Nuggets keeping Alonzo Gee for the regular season roster.

Thought Quincy might be done. Some trouble last year with him and Shaw. And they like Greene a lot as a young guy

And Alonzo Gee wasn't getting cut for him

Also the Pelicans should get Miller since, you know, their SF crop is horrid. And we'd have Darius and Quincy Miller together.

I'm not sure the Pels would have interest. He's not a good shooter, and they went on and on about Corporate Knowledge this offseason. Technically I think they could claim him off waivers and kick the tires without having to cut anybody today, you don't have to get down to 15 players until the season starts.

I was just about to bring up Miller. Seems like a good fit. Denver was loaded at SF

Why is he a good fit? He sucks. He was beaten out by Alonzo Gee who was basically a contract to fill in trades this offseason.

Would you have kept Aminu on a minimum contract if you didn't fear Monty would over play him? Miller's not as good of a rebounder, but he does seem to have some similarities.

quote:

I’d be surprised if Miller doesn’t latch on somewhere – 21-year-olds with that kind of athleticism don’t grow on trees. The Nuggets got flashes of that potential in his brief time in Denver, but streakiness and (most noticeably) lapses of concentration on defense prevented Miller from ever gaining consistent playing time.

I think he would have been worth a try at the start of camp. But it'd be hard for him to come in now and take a spot from somebody. Maybe if someone with a little more name or reputation came available, I'd hope they'd take a shot on them. Definitely someone to keep an eye on if we have some injuries though..

We have several players who haven't really earned their spots. I'd give him a chance over Withey and Young for sure.

He would be an excellent backup three to pair up with Ryno on the offensive side. How is he defensively?
