With articles like this, only a matter of time until it becomes Sitting Bull Day.

that the man who murdered your entire family, raped your daughter, sister, and mother before killing them, tortured your son, brother, and father before killing them, and then robbed you of your home before moving in is celebrated with a party each year by his friends whom he had later brought in to take over your neighborhood. Well, that’s exactly the outlandishly evil shite that Columbus did and the outlandishly racist shite that his friends in Philly and America are doing.

10 years, tops.
It'll be replaced by something else.

There has been an unusually robust uprising this year by people who have nothing better to do with their time than criticize a national holiday.

Saw where the pussies in Seattle had voted to call it Indigenous Peoples day or some stupid shite like that.

Something to honor a minority no doubt.
I made the mistake of clicking on something about Columbus Day on facebook yesterday. Holy shite the comments were a shite show.
You would think if there wasn't a holiday named after this guy that half of the worlds problems would be solved.
And again, it was pointed out over and over that white men are the only bad people in this world. Everyone else, including native Americans were always peaceful and friendly people who lived in harmony until we ruined it for everyone.

well I saw a PBS documentary on Andrew Jackson where an Indian woman referred to him as "Hitler"
What's dangerous is that in the last 40 years these people have been allowed to take over academia

Had an old teacher say they should just change it to Explorer's Day or something. You can recognize the same thing that Columbus was supposed to recognize minus the bad crap he specifically did.

But he never set foot in mainland North America.
His supposed grave has an entire temple built around it in Dominican Republic, and one of his houses in Santo Domingo are regarded as sacred to the locals there. Perhaps the author should tell them they need to burn it all down?

Christmas is next, but I swear if someone dares touch Mardi Gras...

can't we say the same for a bunch of our presidents, or the entire country of Spain from 1500-1800?

Wow, I think that's the most juvenile thing I've ever read, and I think that's the key. These people don't seem to realize that humans are imperfect, like illusioned children who think mom and dad are infallible.
Wait until they find out about MLK and Gandhi's imperfections. Their little heads will explode.

I was under the impression that all these random national holidays were the result of pushes from organized labor in the early 20th century.

Are these people going to whine if I talk about the merits of Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon, Jefferson, Genghis Khan?

Regardless of your political beliefs, who really gives a shite about Columbus day?

What's truly hilarious is that the person that wrote this, and likely everyone else that holds this opinion, has a Che t-shirt (or a poster), and probably has a favorable opinion of Communism
