Is this the play that relegates the toss dive to the trash bin of history?

Could Fournette have seen daylight to the left if he had been tossed the ball?

Our first play on our first three offensive possessions against Kentucky will be the toss dive.

Of course he would have seen all that open space if he was tossed the ball.

Sure... as he was being tackled. "Damn, I could have gone THERE if I didn't have to catch this thing aimed forward HERE."

What play? Running it into a pile and having LF bounce it outside the opposite way purely on instinct? Yeah, I love that playcall.

The toss play gets the rb the ball quicker. The entire point of the play is to get the ball in the rb's hands quicker so he has the ability to make those decisions. So, yes, I think he would have made that play regardless. Because of the handoff, he barely made it out of there in time actually.

This play really worked because of the DE selling out to crash to the middle anyway.

Now, if we only had a play for 2nd and 3 and then 3rd and 2.

The play you linked wasn't even a dive...

The cutback works because it has a little misdirection with the fullback blocking left

Sure... as he was being tackled. "Damn, I could have gone THERE if I didn't have to catch this thing aimed forward HERE."

A handoff has a more direct path than the toss dive

Do we score on this one if it is a handoff? He's able to build up more momentum for the leap due to getting the ball deeper

Of course it works. Listen, immature idiots blame everything when things aren't going well. Here's a short list, from memory, of stupid shite that became a near consensus with the majority of ranters.

1 Jalen Collins sucks
2 Jalen Mills is our third best corner - at best
3 Eric Reid takes bad angles
4 Morris Claiborne is a better cover corner than Patrick Peterson
5 Tyrann Matheiu is a liability in coverage
6 Danielle Hunter is all show (my current favorite)
7 Rasco is not an SEC level DE
8 Jennings doesn't have enough arm strength
9 Miles is stubborn
10 We should go four wide to keep them from stacking the box
11 We should start Beckwith even if he doesn't know the defensive alignments

He would have scored if it had been a toss.

Full disclosure, it also shows the defense the ball that much sooner as well, negating any threat the QB might pull it back.

Student body left and student body right are the only two running plays LF needs to gain 150 yards or better with about 20 carries.
