For those that don't fish or receive fish from friends/family, where do you go?

I refuse to buy from any chain supermarket sans Rouses.

What kind of fish we talkin?

Eta: I catch all the fish I eat (trout, snapper, ling, mahi).

Only time I'll buy other is if I want a fresh tuna steak or need some cheap catfish to fry... Which rouses is fine for.

ive got a really good market down the street from me here in texas (galveston). right on the water. prices are very reasonable and the quality is top notch. kind of an unfair comparison to someone farther inland. their shrimp and fish selection is

in baton rouge, i prefer tonys seafood and fresh market. whole foods is good but expensive

This is the F&D board. If you aren't catching it yourself then you might as well be eating Chinese, garbage-water tilapia

If I'm buying, it's from Jerry at Mandeville Seafood.

The freezer section at Sams. If I needed fresh, I would likely head to Tony's Seafood.

I've been buying salmon at Fresh Market the past few weekends. They have a sale on Saturdays, $6.99/lb. Both the salmon and tuna has been high quality on my few visits.

I buy fish that aren't indigenous to the area from Whole Foods. I have a mild addiction to the in house smoked salmon at WF. I recently bought some tuna jerky from Rouses but I don't think that really counts.

I just got a Restaurant Depot account but haven't made a purchase.

Hong Kong Market in Gretna
Schafer & Rusich, Bucktown
Resto Depot
Perino's in Westwego
Farmer's market vendors

Not a fan of Whole Foods...huge markup, lots of nonlocal fish.

Here in Dallas I buy from Whole Foods or Central Market. I can ride my bike to Whole Foods but Central Market has a better selection.
