Nothing like it. Thinking about getting be a small 14' bateau to put my little 9.8 on so I can lead core fish. Never done it before but I know you need a smaller boat that trolls very slow to be successful.

That's what I heard also, but that's a one man rig I would guess so I won't expect and invite.

usually after 2-3 real good fronts move through. They attack the traps during hard transition periods in early fall and early spring. Then the bite turns to soft plastic on the poles

My bad.
A buddy learned to fish doing that in the early '70's, good camp stories.

Well not 14' wide. It's the wide version of the 14'er

It's 14' long with a 52" beam. About 10" wider than the regular 14'er LINK

Couldn't you just throw some 5 gallon buckets behind a bay boat to slow your roll?

Gotcha, tight, not as svelte as I once was.

Well. I sold my Kennah Bruh and I was wanting something to troll leadcore. I have a drift sock for my friends 22 Skeeter. Was just wanting something to throw in the back of the truck for a quick trip sometime.

Meaux, I have fished lead core before with my 24' bay boat. It can be done I use GPS to tell me how fast I am going and drag 2 5 gallon buckets behind to keep me going slow about 1.3-1.5mph typically we catch fish. However I HATE trolling the causeway would much rather beat the pilings with plastics my preferred way to catch them.

For an earlier post normally they show up around the world series.

We've been trolling traps in bay boats for a while now and sometimes do pretty good. Use a drift sock and GPS.
I also understand that you can use lead core from a bay boat,i just want to try it in a Jon boat that's all

I do like jigging the poles better as well though.

Sounds like the perfect speed for a yak. What bait do you troll with?

Look at that stylish MF. Hey-do you guys also troll stick baits like bomber long A's? I bet they would kill it trolling. and I want to go too.

I want to troll the bridges also. I have a theory that I want to test. I think the trap needs to be near the bottom and that is why the slow speeds and or lead core lines. I put two downriggers on my bayboat and think I can troll faster and the riggers will keep the traps on the bottom thus eliminating the need for a drift sock, kicker motor, 5 gallon buckets, etc. And when you go that slow with a drift sock out the boat seems to meander all over the place and you have to really pay attention. not conducive to a relaxing troll on the train.

boat will be out of the shop in a week or so.
