I went today as well.

Had the guacamole with crickets. Wasn't a fan of the texture of the guacamole as I thought it was overly creamy. I prefer it to be chunkier and less...mashed, I suppose. Crickets were okay texturally, but didn't do much for the flavor profile. I had the carne asada tacos which I thought were excellent. No gristle as others have suggested. They had a nice char to them as well which led to a nice flavor.

After that it was downhill. Goat tacos were mediocre. Not overly flavorful. The pork belly tacos were bland and lacking in that texture that makes pork belly so enjoyable normally. And the pescado was outright disgusting.

Ordered the El Jefe cocktail and they drowned it with bitters. I was extremely disappointed. Probably won't go back.

I just don't understand the hype here. I'll probably go at some point but I'm not itching to go like many of yall are.

They are actually grasshoppers, think they farm them out in Versailles

I only do fresh local grasshoppers. Not that imported shite.

Way to hurt our local grasshopper farmers.

. So, you went to a new restaurant once in its opening week and wrote it off for good?

For reals. This feels like one of those places that does great for 9 months because of hype but then fails.

So can we now safely say Johnny Sanchez is the new Peche for F&DB purposes?

Na brah, only read one bad Peche review here. And it was a 20 top who hated seafood. JS is getting it's haters.

i know, i just cant see it being any worse then that. And not that they serve bad food, but they get a lot of business for other reasons, which this place seems to share.

Even though its a week old and people are saying they probably wont be back. That's kinda silly.

To me it has everything needed to succeed.

I don't think he means it like that. I think he meant more like it is the hot place to go and talk about.

Well considering how few reviews we get anymore, I will take the new cool place reviews over nothing.

I honestly forgot that it was opening. I was just looking for a place to get lunch downtown and a coworker mentioned it.
