What are the greatest movies you've seen at the theatre?
Posted by theantiquetiger on 10/12/14 at 3:49 am00
I am talking first run, not a classic film being shown for a $1
I guess mine would have to be (no particular order):
Pulp Fiction
Star Wars (any of the first three)
E.T.
Shawshank
Smokey and the Bandit (saw at drive-in at Airline and Sherwood)
Forrest Gump
I'm sure there are more, thinking about it

Star Wars
When it first came out, no one had ever seen a movie like... Visual effects, sound effects, musical score. It set a totally new bar for film making.
IMO, film making progression:
First silent film.
First sound film.
First color.
Once Upon a Time in the West
Star Wars
IMAX
Not sure after that for looking at films with such a huge impact to film making.

Gravity, hard to match the Imax 3D experience in a home theater, movie was simply amazing.
