Let me just say I know there is a double standard for this stuff and that I am actually okay with the double standard. It's not okay what this guy did, and they should be harder on him then they are on women teachers who play the skin flute, that is all

A 16 year old girl is just as sexually mature as a 16 year old boy so I don't see the difference.

I really have no reason. It's just an opinion I have about it, I know there's no logic based in it but it's just the way I feel. I know, I suck and am terrible

This was already posted and he deserves the same punishment that women get. Exact same crime.

This makes 0 sense if you agree that a 15/16 year old girl is generally more mature than a 15/16 year old boy. Which is also true physically.

The womans crime should be viewed as worse.

In society, men usually date younger, and this makes sense to us for these reasons. Yet no one ever considers it in these situations. Makes no sense.

So...both are technically sexually mature and not too long ago in this country it wouldn't be that out of place?

I agree. Although I would be more inclined to say that women deserve the exact same punishment that men receive.

Exactly, I mean, why do you think there are so many movies about hot High School cheerleaders?

The US Constitution disagrees with you. It's called equal protection.

If not moreso. Girls mature earlier and faster than guys.

It's okay for you to have a differing opinion, but you need to have some sort of reason to justify your stance.

The main issue at hand is an abuse of power by an individual in a position of authority. Such a crime or misdeed is not limited to a specific gender. Either every educator is held to the same standard and charged accordingly, or no one is prosecuted.

In terms of what constitutes as the historical norm, a male and female student relationship adheres more-so to the "traditional" age dynamic of the older male and younger female. So if anything you could argue that such a relationship is much more natural than the opposing sort (older female and younger male). To clarify, I am not arguing that either scenario is less despicable.

I realize that most people are primarily concerned with issue of male dominance over the supposedly innocent, submissive female (which is absolute bullshite), and therefore is why one is seen as worse than the other.

For some reason or another, too many narrow-minded individuals fail to recognize males and females as one in the same when it comes to matters of sexual relationships during late adolescence. To argue that males are inherently hornier and less naive is absolutely ridiculous. I recognize that there are a number of differences between the two sexes, but I'm holding my ground in respect to this particular matter.

I personally know a number of males, including myself, who at the age of 16-18 felt that they lacked the mental and emotional maturity to engage in sex...and that was with women of a similar age.

Any educator who engages in a sexual relationship with a student, consensual or not (although obviously a non-consensual encounter constitutes as a much more egregious crime), should be prosecuted accordingly regardless of the guilty party's age or gender.

And I get that, but I think often times people don't let common sense rule. With every thing being so PC these days, people have thrown out the ability to use common sense in these types of situations
