There has been a lot of talk about DT and the depth there...

what about DE? The play at DE has maybe been a slight bit better against the run at least, but honestly, the whole D line is not doing enough. I don't see either starting DE bringing great pressure. I wouldn't mind seeing Neal back at DE and keeping Hunter fresh for passing downs.

By the way, Bain looked pretty good in his limited action.

There are problems everywhere I know.

I like Hunter there.

That new kid, Sione Teuhema (sp?), he played a little for Rasco this season and looked pretty good.

I'd like to see Neal, Bain, stay at DT. But that's just me.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Herron move back outside.

Seems like neal should be our 1st and 2nd down DE with hunter playing pass rush specialist on 3rd down. Could probably do the same on the other side with rasco and the bower/samoan. Leave neal in the game and move him to DT in passing situations

Yes, there are holes everywhere on the front 7, but DE is one of particular concern after this season. If, as many expect, Hunter opts for the NFL, we have nobody coming back next season with any experience. To makes matters worse, we really don't have anybody coming in with the 2015 class. A lot of people throw names like Neal and Bower around, but have they really demonstrated anything that leads anyone to believe that they will be difference makers next season? We face the same position crisis at DE next season that we had at DT this season.

We have

Clark
Teuhema
Bower
Neal

So far, we only have one DE committed this year in Washington, and I'm not so sure if he stays committed.

I think we need to move Herron and LaCouture back to the outside.

Next year, we'll have a solid rotation of Thomas, Bain, Trey L, Valentine, Godchaux, and Gilmore.

There are three top DTs in Louisiana for 2016. We still have the year to pick up the JUCO Taylor, plus we are still in the running for the DE Beckner Jr.

Regardless of the JUCO guy, the 2015 committed DE, and Beckner Jr, with those switches, we would have a 3 deep rotation at each position on DL. Trust me everybody, 2015 and 2016 will be much better on the defensive line.

My sources tell me DJ Welter is starting at one of the DE spots tomorrow.
I'm not saying that's a lock but the same source told me Jennings would start vs Wisconsin!!!

Ian,t that the truth. Never seen our line be manhandled and shoved around so much. Always on there heels. The defensive tackles would do better falling down and just clogging the holes rather than shove into the linebackers. Ends are tentative on committing their tackles and have not pressured quarterbacks from any SEC teams. Just looks like we are boys playing against men. We would be better off with offensive linemen playing defense. May not tackle but would at least not get shoved to China.

At this time it looks like he would be a late round draft pick at best, possibly undrafted unless his play picks up considerably or he has a great combine. Not that that has stopped anyone from entering the draft lately

D line and QB are the weak links. No QB, no offense. Know QB, know offense!

Will who? We have a Will? Whatever his name, he could stand a bit of improvement.

Despite what people say, Hunter has been good this year. Sacks aren't there, but he's still been good. And I think Rascon has been better this year than he was last year.

Then you have Bower, who rotates in. And Teuhema has made some plays in limited PT.

Has Clark gotten that much PT?

And yea I think our top 2 DTs are Godchaux and Bain.

Talked with Coach Orgeron tonight at the Mandeville - St Paul's game. Looks bored.
Time to get him at LSU. Get some emotion on the sidelines and turn it up a notch. Maybe it would wake Miles up enough to stop staring at the scoreboard with his arms folded standing on the sidelines looking dazed ....

BTW - his son is really good player - scored both of the Mandeville 2 tds tonight

Good idea. It would probably help against the run. I'd at least like to see how they play there.
