Do you prefer live (as in live in studio) recordings to regular stuff?

More and more I'm hating what some artists are putting out on their albums. Over engineered/produced, too many tracks laid down, just too much shite.
Some of the best music I've been listening to recently is from stuff like KEXP's live recordings, which still sounds amazing from an audio quality perspective, but is 100% live.
I feel like musicians, even very talented ones, are covering up what they actually sound like, and it irks me.

Sometimes. Usually not though.
I think if I had a really sweet audiophile type setup to listen through I'd probably enjoy more live recordings though
ETA I like live music way more, though

It really depends on the band. Grateful Dead, always. A lot of classic rock, yea. Todays music, hell no.
