Night Gallery

Night Gallery - Pilot

In the pilot of the television series _"Night Gallery" (1969) Rod Serling introduces three separate paintings, each with its own story of uncanny vengeance against evil to tell. The first, "The Cemetery", involves a black sheep nephew (Roddy McDowall) who murders his rich uncle to inherit his fortune - both much to the detriment of the uncle's butler (Ossie Davis) - only to find that vengeance extends beyond the grave. In the second story, "Eyes", a rich, heartless woman ('Joan Crawford' ) who has been blind from birth

yep my buddy and I used to do the same thing

The Creepshow feature I remember best was the one w/ Stephen King where the meteor hits and he starts growing plants all over himself... and the other one with the giant slime thing out on the lake

As someone said, Tales from the Darkside is hit or miss. But the intro freaked me out as a kid.

Tales from the Darkside

And "Monsters" came on right after Tales from the Darkside. It was also hit or miss, but it's intro wasn't nearly as freaky.
Monsters

That bridge!

Does anyone remember Amazing Stories? I found those to be kind of creepy as well, but not scary. Like the one where the bomber gunner drew in the plane's wheels after they were blown off, or something like that.

Yep. I saw that one a few weeks ago on Netflix. The one I remember since I was younger was the one episode where this woman grew some incredibily large vegetables because she bought some secret growth formula. She wanted to beat her friend who always won the vegetable growing competition each year. But it had a twist at the end.

"Twilight Zone the Movie"

I agree it's underrated. The cartoon house episode is one of the creepiest scenes in any movie. All 4 segments were decent although the nursing home scene was meh.

The original Twilight Zone is so, so fricking good. Not sure how much you've seen of it, but there are a lot of really, really good/cool episodes.

"But at least I have my books...."

What I likes about the show is that it kept you on your toes. There were occasionally lighter episodes with happier endings

Tales from the Darkside was better than Crypt IMO.

Crypt could be real campy.

The Hitchhiker on HBO back in the day was a mystery series but more Darkside than Twillight Zone.

Like Crypt - The Hitchhiker always had creepiness, horror, some murder and T&A because it was on HBO so sex and gore was allowed.

And speaking of TWillight Zone...The Outer Limits doesn't get it's due...they had some great episodes as a worthy successor.

Same theme as creepshow and darkside is v/h/s. Goofy but not in the same way as creepshow framing device.

I didn't notice this thread was three years old. Imagine my surprise when I saw I had already been here!
