That tripping penalty in OT...Wooooow. I'm sorry that Smith is just bigger and stronger than the Montreal player. That's not illegal.

This POS should be suspended for the fricking season. Letang is probably done for who knows how long. I hope that mother fricker gets his leg broke next time we play them.

Leaves feet, launches, all in the defenders numbers. Go to hell Rinaldo.

Yes, for those asking, that's an actual quote from Zac Rinaldo.

Yeah, gtfo of the league you piece of shite. Disgusting.

Pernell's blast to end it was gorgeous, just saw highlight.

From the point 5 hole. I'm sorry but Nashville has no reason to complain. They outshot and outhit yet still lost.

That was one of the dirtiest hits that I have ever seen. Was there anything legal about that at all? He definitely deserves a lengthy suspension for it. The quote is disgusting.

shite no, he got a game misconduct so the Pens couldn't break his legs, lucky POS.

He'll get what's coming to him after his lengthy suspension, no doubt about it. Especially with what he said postgame.

Hell another team might do it for the Pens, that shite isn't tolerated. And Letang is one of the least dirtiest players there are.

Nashville / Montreal: Nashville. Because I'm a homer. And because SMS knows what happens when Price comes back from an injury with his mental strength and all.

Sad thing is it's usually his best games when he comes back from sitting. It's when he plays a bunch he becomes soft.

Downie's was nothing compared that, not even in the same stratosphere, Downie wasn't even ejected and then got in a fight for it like should be and was back on the ice 5 minutes later.

Looking at Downie's career, no. He does not know better. He's a cheap shot artist and a thug POS. Hey, let's quote the Pittsburgh Post Gazette from THREE DAYS AGO:

W
quote:

ith New York in the lead, 4-3, Downie was assessed a slashing minor with 2:41 remaining in regulation after he struck center Brock Nelson on the leg with his stick then broke that stick over Nelson’s left arm with a cross check. New York went on a power play and scored 10 seconds later to make it 5-3.

LINK

He was once suspended 20 games for deliberately injuring a player. He was suspended in juniors for cross checking a kid in the face. He's a goon. He's only once played 50 games and not topped 100 PIM, and already has cleared 100 this season. He doesn't know better. He should be drummed out of the league.

But yeah, that hit on Letang is ridiculously dirty. He gets shoulder first, but I don't think that matters at all. He drives Letang's head into the boards, from behind, while leaving his feet. That hit has no place in the game.

But the Flyers are a super dirty team, particularly when they fall out of the race. But even they got rid of Steve Downie.

After the game, Rinaldo spoke to the media and along with admitting that he is probably facing a suspension for the hit, also joked that he "changed the game" with his hit.

Dave Isaac @davegisaac

Zac Rinaldo: "I changed the whole game, man. Who knows what woulda happened if I didn't do what I did?"

Joking or not, that is an unbelievable comment that basically comes across as saying that it's worth knocking out a star player with a cheap shot if it means two points in the standings.

There are enough variables involved to warrant Rinaldo getting a lengthy suspension from the league (his history, the fact there was an injury, as well as the fact that it was a really dirty hit) but he should probably get a couple of more tacked on just for saying something as idiotic as that after the fact.

It's also worth pointing out that this entire incident happened with the Penguins' Steve Downie, a player that was brought in partly for his ability to -- in theory -- deter that type of stuff from happening to their star players, on the ice standing no more than 20 feet away. This is just another reminder that no player -- not an enforcer, not an agitator, not a big physical presence of any kind, not Steve Downie -- is going to stop players like Zac Rinaldo from doing things like that.

The only way NHL teams can prevent losing players at the hands of Zac Rinaldo is stop employing people like Zac Rinaldo.

His assist was gorgeous

That was what I was talking about

A slap pass.

Downie grabbing a visor in a fight then trying to do it two handed is just cheap. It wasn't even his fight to get in.

Rags win again. Hags with the game winner. Odd to see Zuke leading the team in hits

As for the Preds, Hutton did pretty good for himself. Subban is a beast. That Smith penalty was kinda chincy but whatever they got a point out of the deal. Price was unstoppable last night .

In other news, sucks for Pittsburgh losing Letang like that.

One more thing to note: How big of a midseason game is the Sharks / Kings tonight? As a hockey nerd I'm psyched to watch this. If LA loses, the point differential moves to 4, and as of tomorrow would be out of the playoffs. If they win, they're tied for the 3rd spot.
