Is it time for Brodeur to face reality and retire?

Sign a one day contract with the Devils and retire. Accept their offer and go into the front office. They will have a Brodeur day and retire his Number in the rafters.

Call me crazy, and I know it sounds old fashioned, but I think it is up to the athlete when he wants to retire.

Yes. He is out of shape an old. Actually come to think of it he should play another season just for the MAAARTY chant at MSG again

Lol!

Teams should just keep chugging out millions to aging players until the players decide they've had enough.

I'd play until I couldn't walk if you kept paying me.

But the point is nobody wants him. Keep your dignity and hang up the skates.

I agree with you. He doesn't need to become the Brett Favre of hockey and possibly tarnish his legacy. Go out with your head held high. (I'm a lifelong Devils fan)

Here's the unfortunate truth. He hasn't been the same guy the last 3 years. Last year, there were 25 guys ahead of him in GAA, and 45 guys ahead of him in save %. He was a great goaltender, but he's below average right now. He isn't coming back. I know he says he can help a team, and the question would be how? He can maybe mentor a younger goalkeeper, but at what cost? You have a bunch of guys that are ranked statistically ahead of him making $725k to $2M; he was making $5M last year. That's a shitload to pay a backup.

With the NHL Salary cap the way it is, I can't see a coach / GM wanting to pay him what he is used to getting paid.

Guy has made like $90M over the course of his career, but it's time to give it up.....
