Why do you use shampoo?

I ran out 2 weeks back and decided to just see what my hair look like after a while (just scrub it under shower water). My hair has never looked or felt better plus it doesn't smell. I mean, we went thousands of years without shampoo and animals coats look great without it. I have greasy hair and after the first week it seemed to equal out and now it just feels normal.

about 2 years, i discovered that if I wash my hair once a week it looks way better.

I know plenty if folks who condition daily, and shampoo like twice a week.
