what was everyone saying?

-great, experienced OL
-stable of backs
-experience at TE, FB
-inexperienced QB and WRs

given all this, the smart play is to pound the ball for 4 quarters

the problem is our running attack is extremely basic and predictable

we never dress it up with variations in formation, shifts, or motion. no misdirection or wrinkles in the blocking schemes. there are many, many ways to run the football - you see other teams getting very creative with it every Saturday

as a fan it's hard to know whether to put that on cam or miles, but until it changes, our offense will be relatively easy to contain

teams don't respect the pass. the formations are not spread out and makes it easy for DC's to scheme. the auburn safety's were literally 5 feet behind the defensive line players

Everyone was also saying this is a young team and we will take some lumps.

How quickly people forget this

i don't remember a lot of "young team". i remember a lot of "young at the offensive skill spots"

because the fact is, we are not young at OL, DE, LB, or DB

it's not really hard. most teams with young QB's (save for ones that win the effing heisman like tebow, manziel, etc) struggle. Miles has always had a pretty decent defense and a run game to offset or hide the weaknesses that come with relying on a QB. this year, he has neither, but the lack of competence on defense has really crippled this team.

LSU was probably a 3-4 loss team with a decent defense before the season started bc people knew the bottom feeders in the league (ole miss, state, UK, Arky, etc) were all getting better and Alabama while still tough would come back to earth a bit.

so now the rest of the league is getting better, and this team has no help at QB, the OL has underperformed, and the defense is total shite. it's a perfect storm of suck this season.

We are LSU and all we have to do is line up and impose our will on the opponents. Our athletes are greater than those of the opponent...Les Miles

Godfather...you sir hit the nail on the head. Our offense has sucked for years, but the defense bailed us out...no defense, no chance.
