Intersting Pattern: Every Six Years, Down. Every Four Years, BCSNCG

I've picked up on a somewhat interesting pattern with LSU football that started in 2002....
2002, The Rant's Lord and Savior, Nick Saban, fresh off of an outstanding 2001 campaign where LSU won the SECCG and went on to win the Sugar Bowl (thanks in large part to a schedule shuffling due to a national tragedy) saw his 2002 team go 8-5. It was an ugly year too, with a roster chock full of NFL talent.
Ugly losses at VaTech, Auburn, (just to name two) coupled with the loss of a QB that was left in a blowout game much too long resulted in a 5-loss season.
The next year, LSU went to it's first BCSNCG where the Lord and Savior, Nick Saban, had to split his only title at LSU with a media darling that didn't play in the game.
Fast forward 11 years later, and this pattern is holding firm.
Every six years, LSU struggles mightily. See 2008 and now, 2014.
Every four years, however, LSU is in the BCSNCG. See 2007 and 2011.
Should this pattern hold true, what does that bring us in 2015? A playoff appearance...
Interesting, but EZE Tiger Fan, you are a sunshine pumper if you think this program can turn it around in the SECW that fast.
Well, in 2012 Auburn was the shits, and went to the BCSNCG in 2013. Why can't LSU do it too?
Be patient folks. Don't abandon the program. See the pattern and deal with it accordingly.
"But EZE, the Lord and Savior, Nick Saban, NEVER struggles at Bama".
Well, Rantards, the Lord and Savior has had #1 classes four years in a row (LSU has averaged anywhere between 2-10 in that time) and he still loses his biggest games every year, many at home, while sporting the easiest SEC schedule. Not to mention extreme bias in officiating that his program benefits from.
Face it, LSU doesn't have the luxury of losing 20 players to the NFL and replacing them all with well-paid five star athletes. Perhaps Miles' problem is he's developing his stars too fast. I don't know. Either way, look forward to a big 2015 based on the pattern.

For the last time, these are not trends or bona fide patterns. It's fricking coincidence.

This is the very definition of trying to hard

Excellent point, considering each has happened three times now...
Like clockwork....
Tell you what: If we aren't in the playoff next year, I'll believe you.

Any two points are co-linear
Any three points are co-planar
It's not a pattern unless it repeats at least 3 times.
I will believe this pattern if we go to the title game next year.

Setting up for a justifiable and trended loss to Florida?

Miles doesn't coach in a sec west where 3 losses can win west. 2001 sec champ was a 3 loss team

This is false.
Everyone knows the Lord and Savior, Nick Saban, would NEVER lose three games in a season. Or five. Or ever lose to ULM or UAB.
(end sarcasm)

2002
If Matt Mauck doesn't get hurt. Lsu would of either been to bcs bowl or NCG

The pattern must repeat three times, not occur three times, so yes.

Their head coach also got fired.

Saban: Three of the last five national titles. Three of the last five SEC titles. Four BCS games in the last five seasons.
Miles: None of the last five national titles. One of the last five SEC titles. One BCS game in the last five seasons.
You want to point out some trends (that are probably just eerie coincidences) that might paint a positive light on next season, I have no problem with that. But don't be stupid about what Saban has accomplished at Alabama. Hell, this season isn't over. If Bama runs the table, (which could happen considering their three biggest remaining games are at home) and wins the SEC title, it's in the College Football Playoff.

...or win 4 NC's in 9 years at 2 different schools. You hand pick the bad in Saban (ie UAB,ULM) just as you hand pick the good in Miles. You fricks completely overlook the opposite in both. Pumpers

In the first 3 losses, LSU was outscored 88-15, for an average score of 29-5. And recall, 2002 was a literal fricking (Bluegrass) miracle away from being 7-6.
About the only glaring differences between the season (I still think 2014 looks more like 2008, but maybe I'm the only one) I can see is that we won the opener this time, whereas we dropped the VA Tech game back in 2002, and the 2002 team had an impressive win against #16 Florida in the Swamp - and 2014 doesn't really have that kind of win yet. The 2014 defense has looked awful in conference play - one of the worst defenses I can remember - worse than the 2008 team looked in conference play.
That bad. But, then again, the 2002 Bama game was the worst LSU game I ever watched in person.
