I don't think he is dying, he just can't keep the speed force. I guessing that he plans on using Barry somehow to fully regain the speed force.

I'm also guessing Joe just messed up by asking Eddie to investigate Wells.

It sux when I type a long reply to my theory, and get kicked of the Internet before I can hit send! Long story short, everything points to Wells being Future Barry/Flash!

Wasn't it the Flashpoint Paradox that put forth the fact that if someone else is using more of the speed force than you, you can't take that control from them, limiting your access?

Alright. You need to expand for the non comic readers. What is speed force and is it finite? Cause I and probably others have no idea what you are talking about.

I may be wrong, but I think the "Speedforce Theory" started in Flash Vol.3? Which was the Wally West series. Giving and borrowing from the Speedforce was established in this series I think. That being said, it's been established (I think?) that the Speedforce originates from Barry Allen

I say "I think" a lot because I'm going off comic books I've read in the past, not what Internet says! Lol

That was a great episode. Confusing, but great.

For anyone that is confused or wants some information on the flash, go here:

History of the Flash

also:

History of the Reverse Flash

Most of that should answer your "simple" questions

I'm not sure about that, but heck, the "science" of the speed force always seems to change depending on the storyline.

Just watched the history of reverse flash. It was so confusing they could have told me any spoiler for the show and I wouldn't know

The simplest explanation is that the speed force is what powers all of the speedsters in the DC universe. The speed force was created when Barry got his powers.

I think that is why Wells created the particle accelerator. Wells wanted Barry to get his powers (possibly earlier that he was suppose to (just a theory of mine)) so that Wells could figure out how to get back his access to the speed force. The tachyon device is temporarily giving him access, but evidently it isn't all that effective.

Great episode. I have to admit though that I have no idea what is going on.

I never read the comics and just had minimal knowledge of The Flash (ie he was fast and part of Super Friends cartoon), so I am enjoying learning about him with the show.

This is all new stuff for me.

I'm not 100% sure yet. I think it is obvious that the showrunners have wanted the comic fans to tie Eddie Thawne to Eobard Thawne (who is Professor Zoom for the non-comic folks), but why is the major question. And it is now obvious that Wells is one of the Reverse Flashes. So is Wells actually Eobard and Eddie his ancestor? Are there actually two completely different Reverse Flashes on the show (say Eobard Thawne & Hunter Zolomon)? Who knows at this point.

What we do know is that Wells is a Reverse Flash. We also know that there were two Reverse Flashes in the same room with one beating the crap out of Wells. Was that future Wells and present Wells, or was that two totally different people, we don't know yet. Also the other RF stole the tachyon device and apparently either gave it to Wells or Wells stole it from him.

While they let us in on Wells' secret of being a RF pretty early in the series, I think there are still a lot of unanswered questions that play a huge role in the whole Reverse Flash storyline.
