i mean..we have The Google. can't you look up any concept by going online and finding some expertly written paper or even a freaking youtube??

does the book cartel still exist where you pay $150 for a calculus textbook?

serious question..i just don't see the point of textbooks anymore except a game to make money.

I do, for some classes. Especially my accounting classes where you have textbook problems to work as practice.

After my first semester I maybe bought 2 books. Completely useless if you plan on attending most classes. Where they get you now is the online homework software codes which cost about the same as a book.

Chegg.com

You rent books for pennies on the dollar in most cases and they have two day shipping. The even include free return shipping

LSU now makes you buy online pass codes that will at least run you $75, most cases more.

However, I torrent most every book I can.

They have quizzes and content chapters that need to be completed online and they give you a code contained in the book. It can only be used once.

It's a racket.

Quizzes and such, at least for me. But I only did that for an online class at Columbus State (1/4 of the price of Ohio State) and got it transferred. None of my Ohio State classes required a code, not sure about other schools like LSU.

they are used mostly for math based classes and they are a bitch, however I had one for a geology class. In most of them, we have a homework assignment and a quiz due each week at Friday or Sunday at 11:55 pm. The homework can consist of either easy multiple choice or step by step math problems that could take 30 minutes to complete each one. Most of the time we either have unlimited or 3 attempts to answer the question correctly. Quizzes suck because you only have 1 attempt to answer the question correctly. Each class is a little different.

You know, I don't have a problem with students having the test bank. You still have to learn the answers to the questions, which means you learn the material.

Plus, essays are much better assessments.

well yeah

multiple choice testing is stupid for college. it's either too easy or written so vaguely it's impossible to give an objective answer

or it's used in math, which is terrible.

seriously frick LSU if they're doing that AND checking kids homework...like this is fricking elementary school
