Cocodrie Offshore Questions

If the weather is alright this weekend, I might head out of Cocodrie and do a little offshore fishing. I have never fished offshore out of Cocodrie.
What is a guy to expect? How far are the runs to rigs? How far are the runs to catch pelagic species?
