IMO the realistic timeframe/results that would lead to a Les Miles firing

Since a great number of people would love to shite can Les right now, I just wanted to share my opinion on what a reasonable timetable would be for his departure and the results it would take. This is based on a mix of what I would do and what I think the AD would do.
2014:
A)4-6 wins: Serious discussion of being fired, but still very likely he gets a mulligan, and outside of a scandal he's not getting fired. Very small room for margin of error in 2015
B)7-8 wins: Safe, no chance of being fired, but puts him on a shorter leash for 2015
C)9 wins +: Nothing happens, has usual amount of slack for 2015, (highly unlikely of happening)
2015:
If (A) or (B) in 2014 then IMO he must win 10+ games to be safe for sure. 8-9 wins would demand at least an SECCG birth and NC contention in 2016. 7 wins or less is officially in getting canned territory, depending on the how they ended up there, much more likely if scenario (A)
If (C) in 2014 then he has his normal threshold for expectations, 8 being the bottom, with 10 being the minimum for a "good season". Added pressure with this young talented class, slim chance to get fired but in this scenario, having this young talented group of players regress would be just as bad.
TLDR: Unless we have back to back seasons of 7-8 wins or less, I doubt Les gets canned before 2016, this probably makes some of you vomit.
eta: I like Les, I hope he does well and doesn't get fired even though he drives me insane sometimes

There is a bigger chance of LSU winning the national championship in the next couple years than Les being fired.
It's not happening people.

if they only win 4-5 this year and struggle to get 7 next year you better believe there will talk of it, especially with the #2 recruiting class. if you dont think that, then you are an idiot

Miles isn't getting fired no matter how bad the team performs this year.
The ONLY way Miles is gone is if the team has back to back losing seasons which would be next year. Let's hope for improvement, a coaching change isn't happening.

This is a thread meant to calm the angst of the people. I'm not calling for his firing, im actively rooting against it.

In other words, he will not be fired barring 0-8 SEC and a scandal.
Only chance is him leaving on his own, and this isn't happening.
I agree and he has honestly earned the right to stay. However, he needs to show willingness to adapt throughout this year for me to trust him again.

The most maddening part is dealing with the secrecy that all programs deal with. I love just to be able to hear the coaches sit down and give us the honest to god truth on why stuff is done a certain way. But you get coach speak because you can't sell out your players or your staff.

I feel your pain. Les is getting left behind by pretty good coaches in the western division. Recruiting is Les money card. But for how long ?
Alleva has miles locked in for several more years and unless Saban begs alleva for the LSU job , who are you going to replace miles with ?
Unless LSU goes under 7 wins for three consectative seasons , Les is safe collecting his 5 mil per year.

Les could post 4 this year and 8 the next two and he still wouldn't get fired. It's not in the cards barring a scandal or complete meltdown.

he gets a mulligan
another one? Sorry but 08 was dismal. 6 FBS wins in the regular season.
I thought the point of a mulligan is you only get one.

4 wins this year and 7 next will get him more time. He's going to need a string of mediocre seasons or back to back losing seasons to get fired. By mediocre, I'm talking 6-7 wins for 4-5 years.

if he wins 4 in 2014, and then 7 in 2015, he's improved the team. IMO, we'd be more likely to win the SEC in 2016 than him getting fired. Scenarios that might get him fired:
1. Losing records this year and 2015.
2. 7 wins or less this year, and then a losing record in 2015.
He isn't getting fired after 2015 if the team improves from this year to next year by 2 or 3 games. It would be foolish.

Right. It's funny how people think Miles getting canned over one bad year is a possibility. Unless there is an AD chance, it's not happening. It would definitely take at least two losing seasons to happen.

Here's how I see this playing out:
2014: 4-6 wins
2015: 7-8 wins
2016: 10-12 wins

I don't think it would result in his firing, but its a sad state of affairs that 4-6 wins followed by 7-8 wins wouldn't get him fired.
Say its 4 and 7. That's only 3 SEC wins in two years. How does that not get you fired?
