To all those who said you're an idiot for taking a kicker before the last round.

You drafted a kicker before the last round?

Probably went 10th round in a 15 round draft. He's been worth every penny. Double digit points in 4/5 games.

He was a stud last year. Unbelievably consistent

His ADP was 95-98 so

Wish I had him

Where were you last week when he was barely in the top 10?

In short, yes, you're still an idiot.

Difference between winning my league and not. Picked up a kicker early in the draft a couple of years ago, and his 14-15 weekly points put my team in front every game. I don't understand the hate for drafting a good kicker. Only position most capable of laying a turd.

Two reasons:

1. Historically, it has been very difficult to project the #1 overall kicker before the season started.

2. Even if you could say with 100% certainty who that kicker would be, it wouldn't get you very much. Gostkowski was the #1 kicker in all of fantasy last year. Do you know what that got you per game over the #2 kicker Matt Prater? .4 points per game.

Sure, you might say, but that's the #2 kicker. What if I end up with a complete dud? Well, I'm glad you asked because would you like to know what your early round kicker would have gotten you over a last-round or waiver wire #10 overall kicker in Dan Carpenter? 1.875 points per game.

So, in summary, you likely can't guess who the #1 overall kicker will be, and even if you could, it will net you less than two points per week.

Query: is the possibility of less than two points per week really worth a 7th/8th round draft pick?

Yep dropped him this week for Hauschka. That's been my luck this year.

ummmm congrats op. I didnt draft a kicker in all 5 leagues waiting to see who would win the eagles kicking job. Then i picked up Parkay off of waivers in every league and he has me double digit points in 4/5 weeks with 51 total. But congrats on wasting a 10th rd pick i guess

How is it wasting a pick when he's a top 50 player going into week 6

The point everyone is making is that (a) there is no way to determine who will be the leader amongst kickers and (b) even if you could, there is not much difference between 1st and 10th.
