Let's lay the blame accordingly.

It all falls on James Rebhorn for dying on us.

Funny recap

quote:

Then there’s Carrie’s mother. What did any of that serve? It was already clear that Carrie was starting to have a change of heart about her relationship with Franny, thanks to her father and her father’s love for her and for Franny. This whole exchange with her mother, the secret half-brother, the affairs, her mother saying don’t blame your dad … what did this do for anyone? If it was to get Carrie to the point where she was suddenly convinced that she and Quinn should settle down in a Missouri homestead and raise Brody’s kid together, in the words of Saul, “frick that.” This isn’t the show we’re watching.

That finale was about as interesting as a Lifetime Movie.

was his capture public? was it known outside of the circle? the video may prove the fact that he was kidnapped

I'm pretty sure the public doesn't know about any of that.

I'm starting to think the viewers haven't seen the whole video of Saul. I'm thinking they work in something where he is reading a narrative provided by the Taliban making him admit to "terrorist" attacks on Pakistan. What we know of the video now wouldn't keep him from getting back into the CIA. Director, maybe, but not some other position.

Lockhart told Carrie she had 5 days to finish it and find Quinn

She told him her fathers memorial was 10 days away. It set up perfect for a finale based on those last 5 days

Like I said, this would have been perfect for a first episode of next season

I think the video is of Saul and terrorist dude breaking bread together when Saul was a prisoner. The video would imply Saul was in bed with them even though that's not the case

The funny thing is that, from the series inception, a pretty big part of it has always been about the Carrie character and her problems. I mean from the get go with no apologies from the creators and writers. Why are people continually surprised and annoyed?

Thank You

As much as we would like this show to be about the CIA and bad arse spy games, it has never been. This show has always been about the relationships between these F'd up people.

I think we are all hanging on hoping they sway the stories more towards what we want, but it hasn't happened in 3 seasons and I don't think it ever will.

I seriously doubt that the public knows that the USA traded those prisoners in exchange for the former head of the CIA.

Sharpton would be PISSED....amirite?

Holy hell what a terrible finale.

At one point I was certain they would flash over to Dana and give us a quick update on her love life. Just a terrible way to end what has really been a great season.

I imagine this finale will really turn off a lot of people. What was SHO thinking? Was there even a cliffhanger?

It seems like the show direction is that they are going to be focusing on "home" stuff again. I expect more "spy shite" than explosions in Season 5. It might not be that bad.

I think everyone is disappointed bc they were expecting stuff to blow up and people to die. US viewers have been conditioned to think that way so it's understandable.

nope nope nope

everyone is disappointed b/c this was a season finale in a redemption season with tons of tension, only to finish things off with a personal voyage of a character we dislike while trying to rehash old character storylines

like i said earlier, the biggest "frick you" was randomly introducing carrie's mother. they're just trying to force more shite we don't care about that is repetitive

It was a bad season finale. No one can say otherwise.

My wife looked at me and said....I bet that stack of letters will have Carries name on the top before Quinn even handed the papers to the new guy. That is how predictable and uninteresting of a season finale that was. It's like they did all their best work the episode before so they felt like they had to build up story lines for next season. Season Finales are supposed to be full of intrigue and closing story lines and the cliffhanger that makes you want to come back. This season finale was complete shite and made all of us say WTF.

Exactly.

I don't care anymore about Carrie's personal life or her family. That's been beat into us the last 4 seasons.

I wanted to know more about Quinn and where he is going rather than oh he is going on a mission, because it seems like he's going to be killed off and we won't even know what happened. When the embassy was taken over that was probably the best episode of this show for me. Then Quinn went rogue and I thought the season was going to end with some crazy hunt for what's his nuts but he gets off scott free and vanishes?

Now it's back to another Carrie storyline with her fricked up family?

They literally explained nothing.

Highly disappointed.

It just doesn't make sense. With shows like this, or The Unit for example, were viewers really clamoring for more filler family drama over action/intrigue?

Just end this show already and make a Quinn spinoff.

Happy Christmas Eve, Homeland fans! To help us all remember and celebrate the past season, I submit to you the Season 4 F-word compilation:

Suggestion: You can stream it from your iPhones and iPads to Apple TVs for the whole family to enjoy, and it will be just like one of those heart-warming Apple commercials.
