we knew we were going to struggle at QB and at DL before the season started. and probably WR.

but our pass defense seems to have just gone to hell. auburn set up their running game with it last night and nick friggin' marshall is not that accurate of a passer.

and, of course, our OL. they actually opened some holes last night (more than at MSU) but it seems that BH doesn't trust them. he looks at one WR and then bolts. things just broke down for him.

you can't cover forever! No pass rush created by the D line, so we're forced to bring artificial pressure in the form of blitzes. If they don't get there, the secondary is in 1 on 1 coverage. It's that simple. Pass defense starts with the Defensive line.

ITS THE PLAY CALLING!!!!

It's highly predictable, unimaginative, and boring plus ineffective.

PERIOD....

I am not a rantard BUT,I see things: such as lack of speed everywhere. Oline ,no push,D line ,no push, no strength.Secondary, no clue ! Can't tackle, won't hit and wrap up. I might add....have we come close to running a kick-off or punt back ? WE have the fastest guy on the team on the sidelines, who should be running back kickoffs and punts. D.J. Chark my friends.Fastest time in the 40yds. He is dying to get in the game but to no avail. The cat can fly and in high school ran several back for T.D's. Give him a shot LES !

Team got beat in every phase of the game. They couldn't even convert on one third down play. I understand they are young but this is mid season. Should be showing some improvement by now. As for the first long pass play by AU. We were in a good position to make a play on the ball (swipe but he held on). Just great play on their part. I believe this team will improve but it may not be quick enough for some. CLM has to get it fixed and fast.

I agree 1000% our DB's have steadily declined since his departure.

With that said with no pass rush and having to cover man up when you are small DB's vs big WR's its a recipe for disaster. If you double cover the pass they will run it down your throat.

I agree. LSU has put very little pressure on opposing QBs the past few years... with the exception of how a couple of players have been used (Mingo and arguably TM).

For the most part, the defense is playing as conservative as the offense. I guess the supposed idea is to play a disciplined, containment style of defense instead of an agressive, attacking defense that might have more big plays while giving up more big plays. I don't think they're containing very well at this point either.

But anyway, as you say, the secondary gets stuck having to cover for far too long. And QBs... Marshall, Prescott, etc. have all day to stand in the pocket and wait for a receiver to get open... and eventually they do.
