Brandon Harris Video

I have a lot of respect for Harris after watching this. I hate that he was put in a position to take up for the coaches, but he definitely shows the instincts of a leader here. He took full responsibility for the way the offense played (though I think we all know it isn't his fault). Still, a leader takes that on himself, shows accountability, and sets an example. This kid may be a true freshman, but he's already got it. They need to let him play and learn on the job.

I was also impressed with how calm and collected he was. There was no defeat or sadness in his voice. After that kind of a beating and performance, that takes a lot of mental toughness and self-confidence. Again, very impressive for a true freshman.

Him playing like dogshit isn't his fault?

He's got a long ways to go, but that's to be expected

The guy is a winner. Him taking the blame is bullshite. It's the coaching schemes, etc. The coaches aren't putting him in good spots to be successful

Not saying it isn't his fault. Just that, he didn't seem to get a lot of help out there. The fact that he is a true freshman in his first start on the road against a top 5 opponent had something to do with it, too. I was just impressed with how he handled it. Some of our recent QBs didn't have that kind of resilience.

Leach is at the bottom of the list of coaches I want to see associated with LSU. That guy will never win anything that matters. Ever.

With the right coaching he will be a great college qb.

Learning experience. He let some of those passes sail. Probably a little over-excited and let his mechanics get loose. That should be a fairly easy fix, but he's got to get those passes down because he's putting the receivers in a bad position where they are susceptible to big hits.

The man has fielded exactly one team that could potentially compete in the SEC in his entire career. A team that couldn't win the damn Big 12 after beating Texas. I don't care what he says after a win.

On one of the NFL programs this past week, Herman Edwards was asked what approach he would take with a struggling quarterback such as the Jet's Geno Smith.

I thought his response was brilliantly simple: 'I'd ask him what he felt comfortable doing and what throws he had the most confidence in making, and we'd adjust accordingly' (my paraphrase).

IMO, this is what should be done BEFOREHAND to prevent a QB from struggling.

Him playing like dog shite IS his fault, and he took responsibility for it.

What I saw was him ALSO taking responsibility for other's miscues. He said Cam put together a great game plan. Maybe he did, but if so, we must have decided not to run it. Harris took the heat for every single thing...not just his own shortcomings.

True. And he immediately brought up technique when that came up. That's a good thing, because that's what will fix stuff like that.

I'm sure nerves played a big role in the sailing balls, and the overall performance, as well. On that note, I think we are looking at another 2004, with QB by committee. Jennings looked much more comfortable when he came in last night, after looking bad the 2 previous weeks. Harris looked spectacular coming off the bench in those weeks, but was absolutely a deer in headlights last night. If both of them can keep things in perspective, that may be the only way to have some success this season.

Totally agree. I guess it makes too much sense for our staff.
