Both super conservative except Charlie Mac (had less talent) was up to date for his time and in 1975 everyone was playing that brand of football.

Cholly Mac was a very good coach. LSU did not play cupcakes like they do now. Check out Mac's last season; we played like four teams that were number one. Mac came damn close to saving his job that year despite the odds stacked against him.

You really think Miles could beat Bear?

Cholly Mac probably made $40,000 a year. Les makes $5 million. That changes the expectations.

No, but they do run the same offense.

Very similar. Cholly was not a great coach, but like Les, he was well liked by his players, most of the time. Unlike Les, Cholly didn't have top shelf talent and could never beat Alabama. Take out the Cholly years and the overall record with them is fairly even.

bullshite. Bear actually threw out of the wishbone. Made it more deadly. Herb Tyler would've been great in that bone. See Ozzie Newsome

I was an adult when Mac was coaching. He was the ultimate pre game poor mouther. "I don't see how we're gonna beat Tulane. They are 0-5 but they are a very good team and we are gonna have to struggle to stay up with them."

Miles is the opposite. He is overly optimistic in every game.

As for styles of the game: LSU had a great run defense during Mac. Not so good against the pass. But that was a different time.

Mac never had the talent Miles does and he got scr*wed out of playing for the Nat'l Championship in 1969. More importantly, Mac's teams did not have the endless errors and mismanagement that Miles does. You can't accuse Mac of gross clock mismanagement, repeated mental errors, and having players not ready to go on special teams that Miles has had. There have been times when Miles didn't know what down it was. Please don't compare these 2 men.

I would point out that Gene Chizik has a ring.

This is incorret. We had some very good years with Arnsparger. Won our first SECC in '86 since '70 and another in '88 and finished top-5 in '87.
