What is your strategy for dealing with this incredibly annoying problem?

Sister in law is always late. Nothing you really can do.

Depends what they are late for.

I've been known to just leave if it's important. If not, I mostly deal with it.

What do you mean? Late to what? Dinner? Meeting you to go out?

Don't wait for them, that's what I did, doesn't matter what it's for, if you are waiting for them to meet for dinner or to go somewhere, leave when you said you would leave, they will figure it out eventually

Give them a separate earlier time to show up. Sometimes works

I have a good friend like that. Just plan accordingly.

Do not ask them for a ride. Don't even discuss it with them. They will not be on time and you will be late.

Do not offer or promise to give them ride. They will not be ready when you get there.

Let them take their own car and they will be there in their own time.

Depends on the situation, but I've left folks several times who didn't show up on time to hunt. You've only got to do it once and it'll never happen again, I'll tell you that.

Leave them and/or start without them. If they value not missing stuff more than they do getting ready, then they will start being on time. Otherwise, not my problem.

If you are waiting on them to go somewhere with you, leave them.

If they need to meet you at, say, 10:30, tell 'em 10. If they're not there by 5 after, just head out without them. Who cares if that pisses 'em off, I don't give a frick about your friend's feelings, he sounds like an a-hole to begin with.

Over the years I've noticed that the people who show up late for social functions have more fun. So whenever time is not critical, I'll show up late.

However, when I have a meeting or say I'll be somewhere at a certain time, I'm there on time.

I do the same thing with boating. Leave them at the dock once and they'll get the message.

People who are consistently late are very self centered selfish inconsiderate people. I have successfully weeded them out of my life. Funny how they are never late for the airport to catch a flight.

The worst is the ones who show up late to class every fricking day. Same girl every single day, every single class. You think they would do something about this. We are only in our second year at this point.

Yesterday the same black girl took two phone calls during class. Interrupted the prof two times to go out and yap away. frick that nonsense.
